Hello there. I had an undiagnosed severe pain problem for 16 months and ended up unable to walk and just lay on my floor for 5 months then had an MRI scan and got my diagnosis then lay on the floor for a further 5 months taking loads of painkillers. I send you my sympathies it was a shocking time. The best medication was Gabapentin 300 3 times a day but it was of limited benefit. I had surgery June 2013 and still have some stiffness in my lower back and the sore leg muscles are still not right but I can sit, walk, drive, work , go out and be fairly normal. I had a really good surgeon in UK - he was by trade a brain surgeon and I am SSsssoooo pleased I was referred to him. I would check out anyone who plan to do an operation for you - but don't leave it too long the wait and see approach is understandable but I was afraid of nerve damage is loss of bowel/bladder control - by the time I had my operation mine had deteriorated to 50 % displacement. Experience and skills to do a good job for you - I see this post was a long time ago - I hope you are feeling better and have found a good outcome. Best wishes Amanda

My daughter just turned 11 years-old. He has been diagnosed with Spondy level 8+. Neurosrugeons told she has to have the surgery although she is not dying of pain. I am so happy so read about the experiences of having the surgery at a really young age as you and the other guest. I really hope my daughter will have the best surgery and recover promptly. Does anybody reccommends a neurosurgeon in SLC Shriners hospital? or SLC Childrens Hospital?

I am happy to hear your sugery was so good. My daughter has 11 years old last week, and she has spondy on a lever greater than 8, however she doe not have a terrible pain, she all days has the lower back pain. The TEM and Resonance states she has a very severe spondy. Did you operate in the US? Does anyone knows or reccommend a doctor in SLC CHILDREN HOSPITAL or SLC Shriners Hospital? or any other US STATE pediatric and column neurosurgeon?

Sorry, about this. I have spondololytheses and siatic nerve was diagnosed 2.5 years ago. I need a fusion and doc says and I've researched him very well and he's actually my second surgeon I've been to. Try a second opinion. I've tried all approaches, pilates, pain meds, off from work 2 months, massage and did work on an off, but I'm going down again. I have a dr. apt Monday and seriously considering surgery, but the cost is scaring me just as much as the surgery. I will find out more on the cost, and I will lose work time, but trying to save sick time. Yes, it takes over all your thoughts. I can't sleep well because of the stress.

Im 33 I had surgery for spondylothesis when i was 14years old.I was fine until I was 22 years old I ve had many herniated disks just above where they fused my spine.I thought it was bad before well its19 years later and i live in chronic pain for the past 11 year .Not to be a downer but the doctors wont care about your pain after they assume they fix you they wash there hands of you, there done with you ,you become a liability.

Has anyone had  surgery for spondlylolisthesis using the Endo-skeleton Titan Spine Technology?  It began on west coast and slowly moving it's way to the east.  Please post any comments whether pro or con.  I am a 57 year old male requiring surgery and am curious about results.

Thanks

Mark

Hi, my daughter has recently been diagnosed with a spondyloptosis - a level 5 spondylisthesis. We are gathering opinions from surgeons in London UK. FYI -

Have you tried chiropractic yet? I tried a few chiropractors with no relief until I was adjusted by Dr. David Rowe, a chiropractor practicing in Manhattan. Within a few months, my discomfort was gone even though the condition is still evident on an X-ray. Dr. Rowe has a very comprehensive program involving adjustments, home exercise and traction. If NYC is too far from you, I suggest you find a Gonstead chiropractor in your area.

I don't know where you live, but I think Dr. Andrew Daley at the University of Utah Hospital would be a good choice to go see. I have spondylolisthesis, two synovial cysts, and stenosis. I went to him and he said" you go as long as you can until you have to crawl in here. You will know when the time comes. He is a supper doctor. Very honest. He could have told me to get my butt in there right now just to make more money, but he left it up to me. I hurt real bad, but I have injections every two months. So far this has kept me so I can function. I don.t want surgery, but I am sure the day will come. Good Luck to you. Elaine Story Liberty, Ut.

Hi Lisa, I'm really sorry to see this happen to you, and it does put more doubt in my mind about getting a spinal fusion. i have had grade 2 spondylolisthesis for about 10 years now. just some minor lowerback pain, and a paranoid sense of insecurity when doing exercises that it would break of slip off completely. all the orthopedics have recommended i get a surgery while i'm still young (32), regardless of my currently mild symptoms. so i'm looking for other opinions online on this topic...my goal is for this problem to go away, so that i can exercise as much as i want, but i don't think a surgery could do that for me. what do you think? thanks
