i have this theory that protein shakes tend to taste a lot like tit-milk having a regressive aspect taking us back to a presexual state ;D ... but more realistically, a good shake contains the same nutrients as a well-balanced meal, nobody feels like f**king right after lunch ...

I wanted to chime in here as I found this page on a Google search. I am also one of the few men that get a significantly lowered libido after taking whey protein. I know it has to be the whey because I specifically bought isolated whey protein from an organic vitamin store that has no added ingredients. I have been experimenting with protein shakes on and off while lifting weights and have always noticed that they give me a strange feeling. I get a really short fuse on my temper. I also get other scary side effects like my limbs getting numb easier. I figure it's the ingredients in the protein that are either hardening my arteries, or building up toxins in my blood.
One great "treatment" for those of you suffering from this: if you are able to, give blood. It will sort of reset your blood contents and you can regain your vascular strength.

Yes, I regularly give blood. I was having severe problems with my limbs getting numb easy. For example just resting my arm on a hard surface for just a few minutes made my arm go pretty numb. I gave blood (double whole blood) and my symptoms have basically disappeared. Then I tried the whey powder again, not a whole scoop, and the symptoms slightly came back. I also tried taking emergen-c, which helped with the numbness and libido loss.

Hey M,
This is B, I was wondering how your recovery has gone since we last talked about loss of libido and whey protein.
I've been doing some research and thinking, and I think what caused my problems were either the fact is was taking whey protein, or the fact I was consuming lots of fats and saturated fats into my diet. It could be either/or
or maybe both, I'm not really sure cause I was doing both at the same time. I was consuming lots of coconut oil as well as fatty milk and whey protein concentrate has alot of fat by itself. This high fat diet seemed to cause impotence as well as libido problems. It also seemed to cause low dopamine levels. I'm slowely getting better, but I'm still not where i was before I undertook this type of high fat diet, and I'm still not sure if my problem was the whey or just the fact I had a artery clogging diet. I'm still going to stay away from whey cause it just isn't worth the risk.

B, I can guarantee you it's the whey that caused your libido problem, I'm dealing with it for the last few years and anytime I take whey the body sends off a reaction that stops you from feeling turned on and switch off your you know what. I was doing well there for a while but started to eat deli cheese that was part made with analog cheese which is made up of cheddar cheese with added whey and vegetable oil to made it cheaper to produce and after a while I got a set back. I believe to recover you need to avoid all food products that contain whey powder, the longer you were taking whey powder the more your body will remember it and when you have it again whether by accident or not you system will switch off your sex drive, it's a mess. So b seriously DO NOT experiment with it again, had I given up whey powder earlier I would nt be reacting to small amounts of it in food.

Hey All,
Well now as i have read all the comments and as i was also suffering from low libido urges (or can say E.D) in these last few months, i think its because of Whey Protein only. Because that is the only doze or powder i am taking for the last 5-6 months.
I take whey 3-4 times a week and was trying to find a reason why my penis doesn't erect fully, and now the only feasible reason seems to be whey only.
I have half box of whey left with me, i'll finish that and i think this would be the last time i would be taking whey. It might be in my head that Whey Protein is causing the problems like erection doesnt last longer or penis doesnt erect fully, but if this is really the case, then Whey Protein U Suck bigtime. You should start writing this side effect also on the box U A**HO**

My boyfriend 45 recently started running, and an extreme diet program.. ( to lose weight and train for a marathon ) He runs about 8 miles 5 days a week.. He takes a lot of supplements which all seem to be needed and ok, he takes whey protein shakes and also other protein drinks and eats protein bars sometimes as his only food... he does eat fiber and lots of nuts and fruits.. The problem his sex drive has decreased and just the last few weeks we both noticed his penis size is smaller in thickness.. (Very good size and very good drive before.) Could his diet and or exercise be the cause of this?

Hey M, Yeah you were right about the body remembering the whey, so that even small amounts actually cause a big reaction in the body. For the past couple months, I've been making very nice recorvery in both my libido and my original size by making sure I avoid whey, but then all of a sudden last night, i felt like I felt when I was consuming large amounts of whey protein powder. The main side effects were: not sleeping well, feeling numb, and low sex drive. I thought about what I ate which would have caused this reaction, and it turns out I bought a bag of chocolate chip cookies from a restaurant. I looked at the ingredients, and what do you know, whey protein is added. It's amazing how consistent this reaction is starting to be, and I know its not in my head because I had no idea there was whey in those cookies before i ate them. Need to be more carefull next time.
