They took about a pint, which i think is just about right since I've never given blood before. I got a little light headed, but didn''t pass out or anything. I'm from the U.S.
BTW for some reason light-skinned europeans like myself, and I'm guessing you since your from ireland are more prone to absorbing more iron out of our diet. Most blacks, hispanics, asians don't usually have this problem. From what I read, it's mainly a white guy thing.

I replied to you last night but for some reason it didn't appear on the website?? Yeah that is very common in Ireland, 1 in 83 people in Ireland absorb too much iron and have to get blood drawn a few times a year and it can be fatal if not diagnosed. Hey M, just thought i would update you after a few days. Well the first few days after giving blood were very interesting to say the least. The feelings of numbness and loss of pleasure from doing simple things seemed to have went away, even though my sex drive wasn't really different, I felt healthier overall. After giving blood I had massive cravings for junk food and anything fattening or high in calories. For 3 or 4 days I simply didn't resist anything and ate whatever i felt like, which was mainly junk food. As a result, the good feelings i had after giving blood has passed. Not sure if it would have went away naturally or if the fact i was eating c**p food was the main reason. Also, after i gave blood, they gave us some snacks and i ended up grabbing some chez-its. Halfway through eating the cheezits, i looked at the ingrediants and saw it contained whey. So i made some mistakes by eating junk food after giving blood and also eating foods that contained whey which makes this experiment somewhat irrelevent. Next time after giving blood I'm going to continue eating healthy food, and make sure whey never gets in my system. But overall it was somewhat promissing, even though my sex drive didn't really improve that much if at all.

Hi B, thanks for getting back to me about that. That's not good you ate the chez its. Eating anything now with whey in it is a big mistake. You have to watch out and don't eat anything unless you've seen the ingrediants. If you eat pizza be careful, they'll say on the ingrediants it's just mozzarella or cheddar but its usually mixed along with analog cheese which is the cheap filler that contains vegetable oil and whey and they don't write it on the ingrediants, any junk food with cheese or even some plain block of cheese can have it in it and you could hold yourself back from recovering without knowing it, although it does take ages to recover if you're eating clean. I'm going to give blood next week hopefully and I'll let you know how I get on. Adrian gives two pints which is a lot and I'd say that would be better for resetting the blood. If I were you I'd keep giving blood as often as you can for the next while to give it a proper chance to see if it works for you and watch your diet. I'll let you know how I get on after I give it although I can only give one pint as well.

Hello again!

Ok as I say before 2 weeks I had the reaction again only with ¼ of a scoop. 20 days now  and I still have the problem. some days  I feel little better but I lose it again.i also make some blood and sperm exams and everything are ok. (I also accidentally eat a chocolate with whey in it before 4 days)

Something i noticed the first time when I have the problem and now is that I can’t have a semi hard erection, I mean my penis from total flaccid goes up immediately (that means not good erection). I believe this happens because I still can not feel the half of my penis so my penis weights less end goes up faster.

Also I have pain when I masturbate and after.

Something else Is that I don’t get satisfaction from orgasm. I can orgasm but without true satisfaction.

And some days before I had erections while sleeping.

Anyone else with the same issues ?

The first time it took 35-40 days to be completely ok, now 20 days and counting…(with ¼ of a scoop)

Guys I know I ask this before but is there any possibility the symptoms last forever? 

I lately start visit psychiatrist because I am afraid to hurt myself .

This is great that we have updates and discussion on this! Rarely do I see a conversation keep going this long on an anonymous board.

Well, I would like to input that my symptoms are pretty much gone now. I rarely have any more numbness in my limbs and extremities as easily as I did before. Before I would simply lay my hand on the desk for 5 minutes and it would start to go numb. It's basically back to where I was before I reacted to the whey. Also, my sex drive is extremely active again. I had sex with my girlfriend multiple times without any trouble "getting it up." In fact, I'm extremely sensitive now and could barely hold back for long. Just like my teen years lol

I would also like to add that I've been exercising frequently, cardio and weightlifiting. I took magnesium supplements also and that seemed to really boost my libido.

Adrian your post gives me hope! 

1/4 scoop and and steel i dont see progress after 3 weeks.

my libido is very low and i cant have normal erection.

the wird thing is that sometimes i have erection while sleeping (but steel not full erection).

the other time with 3 scoops i was better in three weeks than now.

The total whey protein i took is 1 box last summer (it lasts 2.5 months and i had no problem then) and a second box before 6 months. from the second box i only took 3 scoops and i had the problem 35-40 days then (like an id**t) before 3 weeks i took just 1/4 of a skoop and steel have the problem(maybe worst than the first time). so the total whey i ever take is 1 box + 3 1/4 scoops . 

guys after how long you start to see progress?

Those symptoms you have are typical whey protein side effects. You never pull semi's and night erections and morning horns become a thing of the past although I never got any pains. When you have it bad it does feel like its never going to go away and you're going to be stuck like that forever but it eventually does go with some time. Between now and when you get better whether it's a couple of weeks or a month, no amount of stressing out is going to help. Because I took whey protein for so long it took me ages to come around and I drove myself absolutely mental thinking about it, when you do start stressing about it, stop and think about something else, and realise its just going to take more time and you will get better. I know I'm repeating myself but make sure you don't eat any processed food unless you know there is no whey powder in it whether that's at home or in a restaurant. I did make good recoveries and got bad set backs from accidentally eating it.

This is an interesting topic i have been wondering about this for awhile now. I started taking whey about a year ago because i started lifting after a girl broke up with me to distract myself and better myself at the same time. There has been multiple occasions with my new girlfriend, who is the freakiest girl i ever dated, that i have had a hard time keeping a full erection. Now when it does get full i have a much harder time having an orgasm. This only happens on days that i take whey. The only other time i ever have issues is when i am really drunk, which i assume is true of most men in general. After reading this forum i am convinced it is the whey. Right now as i am typing this, my arms are going numb from leaning on them, even on this pillow top mattress. The numbness in limbs only started recently. I had a two month stint where i was away working and had no time to lift so i never took whey at this time and had no issues. My question for you other guys, did you try any other protein powders? I want to keep stimulating muscle growth but i am definitely concerned about my sexual health and any other issues the whey might be creating. Does anyone think plant or rice proteins would cause this? Also why do you think there is little info on the net about this? Outside of this forum i havent seen much about this topic.

Hey M, curious when are you going to donate blood? I want to see if you would have the same positive effects that I have had since I donated almost a few weeks ago. Adrian was right in that donating blood does kind of reset your blood chemistry, and I think it is the fastest way to rehabilitate yourself while avoiding whey altogether. Seriously since i donated blood, it made me realize how messed up i felt for 2 freaking years since i started taking whey protein. I'm starting to feel closer to how i felt before I started taking whey, and I only gave 1 pint. I'm still going to avoid whey from regular food, and will never take a whey protein shake again in my life. Whatever the reason whether it's the fact it increases iron too much, or maybe they're too many toxins in the shake themeselves, I don't know, but it just isn't good stuff at least for me and many others on this board.

Hey M. BTW when are you going to donate blood? I ask this because I'm curious to see if you would get the same benefits that I have been getting since I donated blood almost 3 weeks ago. Since I donated blood it really has made me realize how physically and emotionally numb I was for the last 2 years or whenever I started taking whey protein shakes. Besides avoiding whey, it seems like donating kind of speeds the recover for whatever reason, whether it helps cleanse the blood or removes excess iron. I'm also noticing morning erections seem to be coming back more often, which before was few and far between. I only gave one pint too, and have noticed these improvements so I think Adrian was right when he said giving blood kind of resets your bloods chemistry. Anyways I would try donating asap and let us know how it turns out for you.

Hi B, reason I didn't donate yet is cause the donor clinic doesn't come to my area till the end of may, otherwise I would have donated ages ago. The nearest clinic that's open Monday to Friday is 3 hours away but I will go hopefully next week, had a lot on lately so couldn't. That's excellent it's working. I can't wait now to go and do it and I too know what it's like to feel weird and c**p from whey powder. I'll let u know as soon as I donate.
JD, I used to take casein protein and creatine with absolutely no problems at all. Now if I took casein/creatine it would swell my neck glands and soften me down below but not totally kill my libido for ages like whey would. Reason is cause my body remembers whey and sets off low libido reaction whey I take anything like it. I'd say how you get on with other protein powders depends on how long u took whey and if your body will set off alarms. If I were u I'd leave all powders alone for a long time, say a year and the try rice, hemp etc but whatever you do avoid whey in anything at all costs. Really u don't need powders, I'm lifting heavy with an egg white in the morning and one at night and steak for dinner.
Guest who wants to know how long it took to recover, I took whey for 2 and a half yrs. after 6 months I got severe muscle weakness and low libido. Didn't tweak it was whey causing it cause if u stopped for a week or two symptoms didn't clear up and cause I was taking other supplements, and I believe I was in a kind of a stupor from the whey. One time for about a week I started running on the treadmill, hadn't takin whey for a few days and then all of a sudden I found it hard to get my heart rate up, like as if I became much more fit all of a sudden and realised whey was my problem. Stopped whey completely and then the reps on my bench, shoulder press and squat doubled in a month. However my calves and libido didn't. I was at say 55% down below and it took two years to get back to 95 nearly 100%. Then drank hot chocolate just at night for two weeks and got massive set back, back to 55%. It took two years to get to about 75% and another two years to get to 95 nearly 100% which was last September till I started eating lots of anolog cheese by accident which put me back to about 80%. Now currently at 90%. Don't freak out though, you'll recover a hell of a lot quicker. Reason I got it so bad was cause I was eating one tub of whey every week for two and a half years, and got reaction 6 months into doing that. It also effected my eye muscles, there's a guy Ben at the beginning of this form that also complains of this, my vision is fine but if I look at high defenition really clear screens on phones or tv's the muscle in the back of my right eye twists like crazy. This has greatly improve as everything else has gotten better but not fully right yet. Hopefully donating blood will clear this up, Adrian if this works and it seems to I'll owe you big time!!!

The first time i got the reaction was with the 3 scoops of my second box it lasts 40 days to be completely ok 100% . after that before 1 month i took the 1/4 scoop from the same box and i dont see progress actualy i am worst than 2 or 3 weeks before . The last 3-4 days i dont just have the issue with no libido but i am total impotent. The reaction i got with the 1/4 scoop is far worst than the reaction i use to have with the 3 scoops from the same box. i am so comfused i also took the same brand as you as i see at your earlier posts (ON gold standard). Do you believe its normal to feel almost impotent with 1/4 scoop after one month ?

The first time i got the reaction was with the 3 scoops before 6 months then the problem lasts 40 days to be completely normal 100%. this time i took the 1/4 scoop from the same box before 1 month and still have the problem and its getting worst the last days. before 2 or 3 weeks i was better than now. the last 2-3 days i feel total impotent. i 'm not talking about 60, 70 or 80% i am talking about 0 or 5%. The last 3-4 days its impossible to have erection. Is it normal to be like this after a month with only 1/4 of scoop?
