%-) I had a surgical termination about 4 weeks ago. I was nearly 9 weeks along. I noticed prior to the surgery that my left ovary was sore and tender to the touch. Everything went smoothly with my surgery and the recovery seemed to go as expected. I took all my antibiotics and have had no noticeable signs of infection. The clinic I went to was extremely expensive and informed me that they would charge extra for a followup appointment. I am short on funds right now so I opted not to schedule a followup appointment. Now, it is nearly four weeks after my surgery and I just began experiencing a dull and aching pain in my right ovary yesterday. I figured it would go away but today it is now tender to the touch. I still have a slight pink/brown discharge every once in a while. But no bleeding for a couple weeks now. I have no signs of an infection. No abnormal smell, fever, etc. I am just wondering if this new pain is normal.:S I do not wish to bother the clinic for something that seems minor but this symptom is similar to what I felt when I was pregnant before the abortion....only on the left side. I have not been sexually active without the use of a condom and contraceptive gel. I was hoping someone might be able to provide some insight please.
Yes, you should go back to for your post abortion check up.
They need to make sure that there is no infection in your uterus, that you are healing properly, make sure your cervix has closed, as well as to make sure your abortion was complete. It does rarely occur that the operation doesn't fully work and that you could still be pregnant.
Also, what may seem to be your period could just be regular spotting post-abortion.

Make sure to go back to your doctor/clinic and have the check up.
Best of luck!
