Hello. I'm 28 year old male and a really strange and rather serious thing has happened to me lately.
You see, about two weeks ago I developed one very serious cold and my doctor doubted that it could be even pneumonia.
He sent me to do an X-ray and picture showed that things aren’t so serious as they seamed.
But the X-ray picture showed also presence of some cyst in my left lung. Doctor still don’t know what it is but he doubts in some echinococcosis infection! While we wait for blood tests to come- I would like if someone could tell me more about this specific infection!
I've just read your post and recognize the main symptom of this weird infection! I'm talking about one cyst that is usually found incidentally while performing some other tests.
Echinococcosis is one parasite infection that results from being infected with the larvae of the tapeworms E.granulosus, E.multilocularis, or E.vogeli. People get infected directly by ingesting food or drinking water that is contaminated with stool from an infected animal. What can I say- larva turns into cyst that are usually slow-growing. This is why infection may not produce symptoms for years.
For now- only effective treatment is surgical removal of the cyst!
