i am in the process of trying to leave that sh*t. if i can be part of something, i'll be happy
I went off Effexor last January after being taking it for over 8 years. I battled many times with trying to get off this horrible life stealing drug with no success. I finally went Cold turkey with several horriffic side effects and over three weeks of misery. I am so greatful to finally have my life back! I had many friends and family members tell me over the years that I was not myself and that I needed to quit taking Effexor but I couldn't get off of it. I am greatful for my loving family and friends that helped me through the miserable, crazy withdrawl. I did get a small amount of relief from vitamins including Tryptophan, sam E, vitamin D and B along with EMDR therapy. Since then, I have been told that the difference in my personality is night and day improved from who I was on the drug and who I am now. I believe Effexor destroyed my Marriage, business and several relationships with friends and family members,
I am very interested in persuing a lawsuit and would love to hear from anyone that is making headway. I have also considered writing a book exposing the horrific side effects and personal price that I paid for taking this drug that was perscribed to me to alleviate depression following the death of my father.
I have been on effexor for 6 years at 150 mg. I also have tried to quit many times. I have experienced the awful side effects and have to work, so I can't go thru these side effects at work. I also am having liver problems. I am in the middle of testing on this. Thanks....Laura

Started Effexor 37.5 in 2000 after murder of my sister. Although dose was low I attempted to discontinue drug after a number of years. Experienced severe nausea dizziness and electrical shocks that were on my scalp and head. Felt miserable but stayed off the drug for about 8 week and it got no better. Revisited doctor and just went back on to quit feeling so miserable. Saturday and Sunday I mistakenly missed my pills and today experienced the same symptoms. Realized I forgot pills and took one , four hours later symptoms are almost gone except slight nausea. This is a devil drug and wish I never started it and am angry no one ever told me what would happen with removal. Just want off but can not tolerate this feeling. Anyone know how to withdraw?
Was on 150 for 3 years after my Uncle passed. Been trying to discontinue for past 3 months. Went from 150 and slowly weaned myself off or so I thought. Got to 37.5 and then tried to stop it...on 4th day of missed dose the brain zaps were unbelievable. I've since cut dosage in half and alternating every other day. Taking Omega 3 and it helps a bit but not a lot. Have also experienced shaking...(my head continually) easy bruising, the night terrors and night sweats were unbelievable, etc., etc. I can't understand why Dr's are still prescribing this medication and why it is still being marketed.
i am experiencing same thing
I would like to join!
My son has also tried to get off this drug. He tried a few months ago, December of 2014, and even though he has weaned himself off the majority of the drug, he tried to get off the rest , but was unable. He had a seizure and his brain felt like it was misfiring. He had to go back on the drug. He has contemplated a class action lawsuit.
I have a family member that is currently having problems with Effexor antidepressant. Would like as much information on the class action as possible
Hello... my mom and I have been trying to do the same thing with effoxor and I cannot believe how bad it is. It's impossible if you're asking for my opinion. I've been complaining for years how bad I've been feeling and not once have they ever suggested getting off this BS medication effoxor. They know it cannot be done and they don't want to deal with this situation. I'll be honest with you, I'm a kinda a recovering drug addict. I get clean from opioids and I feel so awful just being on effoxor I can't stand myself so I end up going back on opiates. I know I could drown myself in oxy's and get off that way but I'm asking for a world of so many other problems.. it's hell with a capital H.. SO I'M GAME, I'M WITH YOU.. TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO. Contact me there and I can give you other information. PEACE. Shelly

Hi,
My name is tammy and my Dr. had me on 300mg a day of affexor. The drug caused me to sleep for three weeks until I ran out of the drug and woke up in a rage like I have never experienced. I attacked my family, I then took my new envoy and crashed it into my husbands new ford pick up causing 30 thousand dollars in damages, the I drove into the wall of the house for another 10 grand in damages. I was so out of control and violent, I had to be detained by four officers, arrested and taken to a psychiatric hospital where I spent five lovely days withdrawing and dwelling on all the damage and pain I caused. I wish you luck, take SLOW. the withdraw can be dangerous.
I feel the exact same way. I have almost felt suicidal. Now, I just just found out about the recall. I am on self-pay and was about to borrow another $100 to go to the dr. in 2 days to get another prescription that costs $53 for 150 mg. He increased my mg to 225 mg, and the cost increased to over $200, so I had to call his office to go back down to the 150 mg. I'm so glad that I couldn't afford it, or no telling what adverse reactions would have happened since the issues right now are heart palpitations, which I have been having as well. I've been taking this medicine for at least 6 months, and it's money thrown down the drain, and no telling what could have happened.
