It's not a problem, but perhaps an art. It usually happens just as I'm falling asleep and used to make my heart race after feeling some kind of weird electrical surge which, in the beginning, felt like I was being slightly but physically lifted a hair off the bed. Over the years I've slowly learned not to be afraid and to just go with it. I wished it would happen ever night but I can go anywhere and past the clouds...very quickly. It's been years until this morning that it has happened. It's different than a lucid dream because I am fully conscious. And unlike a flying dream, this is only accompanied by the electrical surge and you can get out of it anytime you get too scared, which at some point, always happens.
This has become a problem for me lately. I am 18 months post radiation treatment for an Acoustic Neuroma Brain Tumor. I get elevated tinnitus sounds and then surges of what seems like currrent through my head and body. It feels like someone unplugged me and then rapidly plugged me back in. The surges lasy for up to several seconds and are usually followed by a headache, then exteme fatigue. I usually need to take pain medication to make the after sensation go away. I have an MRI every six months, but as far as I know they are only tracking the post radiation activity of the (benign) tumor.
I also experience these electrical charges. Mine happen when I am up and moving around. If I lie down, they will stop after a minute or two. If I get up I immediately get a 'buzz'. They come either singularly or in consecutive groups of two or more. The most I ever felt was five in a row. If I am looking at something specific ie: TV, newspaper etc. my vision shifts to the right slightly and goes back to normal within a nano second. When really bad, I have 2 sets of 'buzzes' every minute until I lie down to get them under control. You are not alone and my Doctor can't put his finger on it.
Hi When I have trouble getting to sleep I quite often feel something v hard to describe. It is not specific thoughts - either slow or fast - it is what I call a surge that passes through my brain. It is v distinctive and recogniseable to me now and is associated with trouble sleeping. It is as if I've gone beyond having racing thoughts to having a mass of thoughts racing through my head in a block (sorry not to be clearer but it's just mnot possible..)

You most all seem to be young and very scared or concerned about this 'surging' in your brain. I am 79 years old and have had the very same thing since I was Very young man. Over my lifetime I have asked about every type of specialist you can imagine about it and most just ignore it or the best reply I have ever received (Neurologist who didn't want to deal with it.) "The brain has some miss-fires sometimes".
This is just to let you know that it doesn't seem to cause any real harm to you other than aggrivation but as the years go by you get past all of that.
Keep trying to find out about it but don't worry so much. It is one of your smallest problems.
My best to you all

My name is ryan. ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting private e-mails and info is not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use. On may 10 2016 my body had some sort of jolt like electricity run through me. It was beyond anything I'd ever felt. I wasn't on drugs or drunk or anything. It was personal. I have more to say but I don't want you to think I'm crazy. Hit me up if you felt some sort of 'electric surge' through your spine.
