I went to see a doctor because for the past month and half almost 2 months now I've been having to urinate unusually frequently and I can't sleep through the night without waking up half a dozen times to pee. The first time I went to the doctor I was told it might be just a bladder infection and I took medication but it didn't work. There's no pain when I urinate I just have to go frequently and I have stomach cramps that aren't menstrual. I got my bloodwork back today and my crp level is 25.8, I was told this is above normal level. I was told to go to a hospital to see a urologist? I don't know if I'm spelling that correctly? I can't get to a hospital until next week. Could this be something very serious? Or does this seem like just a bladder related problem. I looked up crp and it was everything from heart disease to cancer to arthritis and irritable bowel syndrome...very across the board. I'm scared please help. Note also I am only 25 yrs old but I am obese and I'm a smoker and I had a baby by c-section 14 months ago.
Ok, now just calm down. It does not sound like anything serious. If it were, your doctor would have done something right away.
C-reactive protein (CRP) is a protein found in the blood in response to inflammation (an acute-phase protein). CRP is produced by the liver and by fat cells (adipocytes).
CRP is used mainly as a marker of inflammation. You have some sort of infection that is causing inflammation in your body. It would appear to be related to your urinary tract system. See the urologist and he (she) will take care of the problem.
