I have read one article which has bothered me. It was about embolism pregnancy. I am 30 years old and I am pregnant for the first time. They say that pregnancy increase risk of having blood clots. Can you tell me something about those risks? What are the factors of risk?
There are several factors that increase the blood clots which can produce embolism. General risks are abnormal clotting, reduced blood flow, and damage to the veins. Those risks are higher during the pregnancy. It is because of, changes in level of hormones, reduced blood flows because of weight and pressure on the legs or because of fetus pressing upon veins, injury to the veins during the delivery, inactivity after c-section, surgery or delivery.
