I have been diagnosed with severe anemia. I have had this for the last 2 years. I have tried vitamin supplements bet all they do is give me gas cramps and some constipation. My doctor says that I am a good candidat for the procedure listed in the subject line. My periods are normal to heavy at times.
Any thoughts?

I too had anemia for over a year and my Dr. put me on prescription iron which I had to stop after about nine months because of the same things you described. The Dr. did not want me to cease taking the prescription, however I worked in a health food store and found a couple of good liguid irons--Floradix and World Organics and use those with less side effects. If you want a higher dose of iron---Enymatic Therapy puts out a very absorbable pill to take.
There are several different kinds of anemia, I would find out which kind you have and also the reason--why are you periods so heavy? Mine was due to fibroids and I had to go to two different Dr.s to get diagnosed correctly.
Now that I know the reason for the heavy bleeding I can work at solving the problem from that angle and hopefully get rid of the iron deficiency all together, which by the way I have for the moment.( the anemia anyway) Even though I still have excessive bleeding monthly since I have still have the fibroids and have not done any type of surgery, yet my iron levels are in control.
Also diet, dark leafy greens and of course some red meat help, plus vitamin c helps to absorb iron into your system while calcium blocks it so find out which vitamins to take and when, that should help!
