I had Novasure done @ the hospital & quite frankly it saved my life. I have NO Periods!! & Its been almost 2years since the procedure. My doctor was quite confident & since this was done I have had a following of women from my gym/work & friends that switched to my dr!
I have also lost a total of "40" pounds!! & feel as though someone turned my lightswitch back ON!! I do get moody on/about the same time of the month but that is all. Have faith in your gyn & all will go fine. Life is too short to spend suffering. God Bless!

I had my procedure done on 5/30/08 and my period started that week of the procedure on monday. I was off on thursday. When I had my procedure the instrument malfunctioned and he only got half of it done. He said he wanted me to come back in 2 weeks. I had cramping after the surgery and they gave me one loratab and after i came home and got plenty of rest later that night I felt fine. i didnt even have anymore pain after the procedure. Just want to know when the watery discharge will be over.

My doctor told me today that he wants to do the novasure procedure on me. I have very heavy periods every 2 weeks. After reading what some people have written, I am very scared about this procedure. Can anyone tell me that they had good results?

I was reccomended to have a surgical ablation, and having read various sites I had mixed feelings. I had the novasure procedure done yesterday 23/06/08. Absolutely no probs. They would not do it under local anaesthetic at all, because they said they do other things as well. Well I had discovered by previous internal ultrasound that I had fibroids and a few polyps but they decided this was probably not the cause of my heavy bleeding, that was probably just hormonal, but were probably the cause of pain. So the procedure they do at Poole hospital was as follows, Full anaesthetic, then they insert a camera have a good look round if they see any-thing suspicious, they do not proceed. They decided that a couple of my fibroids were a little large to come out with ablation so they removed them first, then the other fibroids were so small they would be removed with ablation. They took biopsies from the womb and surrounding area, removed polyps and then performed the novasure. After that is all done they re-insert the camera just to make sure that no damage was done. I was fully awake in the recovery room, even had a chat and a drink. Had slight stomach cramps but needed no pain relief. I believe they might have inserted a voltarol suppository during surgery. Went back to ward, every-one who had gone to theatre before me were all asleep. I was wide awake, read my book had a cuppa and some biscuits. other people were asling for pain relief and some felt sick. Not me I was fine. Hubby came to collect me 2 hours after surgery, went home expecting to sleep for the afternoon. Could not sleep, had slight stomach cramps needed just an Ibuprofen, very slight pink discharge, thats all. Finally got to sleep that night woke this morning feeling fantastic, had a bath, put the slap on and although I have been signed off from work for the week I honestly could have gone to work. No bleeding, stomach cramps or discharge at all.

No I could have had a bath on the same day, just did not feel like it. I think that they minimise risk of infection by washing out down below by an iodine like substance. I did not use bubble baths or perfumed soap. On day 3 now, no discharge, pain or bleeding ay all.

I am 39 - I had to have a vaginal ultrasound first to check for growths, etc -then 2 weeks later I had a biopsy done to check for cancer and then 2 weeks after that on June 9th I had my ablation done at the hospital under general anesthesia as required by my insurance provider... the last thing I remember was asking if they put any drugs in my IV and the doctor saying.. heck yeah! LOL then I woke up in recovery:) - I have had a watery pink discharge but it is now almost gone -I think I'm actually having my period right now, slight cramping but no bleeding - yayyy!
Before I used to have 12-15 Advil a day for period cramp pains and really heavy bleeding - It took me 3 years to build up the courage to have this procedure done and I'm sure glad I did - we leave on vacation in 2 days and it would of sucked having my usual period for sure!!

I would recommend getting it done, but as always with any invasive procedure - make sure you ask your doctor how many he has performed and make sure he is experienced at this.... it sounds like some here have had bad experiences unfortunately.

I'm glad I finally did it and have my freedom and life back! :-)

I had a novasure ablation 10 days ago, I felt great for the first 5 days, no bleeding just the watery discharge, which is not too bad. Then I felt not so good, terrible stomach bloating, headache and just felt really down. Do you think there is some hormonal activity going on here?

I just went to the doctors for my two week post check-up, and was told I have an infection. I avoided baths, hot tubs, pools, sex, and anything in the vagina. I thought the slight cramping and bloating were normal after affects. I am now on a vaginal antibiotic that is really making me feel crappy...

My weight was 155 at 5'8" and now I am at 177 and eat healthy! any one who has any info on this please help!

On July 11, 08 I had the Nova Sure procedure as well. Everything went great! I was sleeping during the procedure and only had slight cramps the day of with light discharge. I did get tired easily and get cramps if I did too much, but other than that it was no problem (my periods are much worse). I even took my daughters on a shopping spree at the mall on the 2nd day :-D It has been a week and I do still have light discharge, but that is normal. I just hope my cycles are better after this, if not at least I tried and only missed a day of fun to have it done.

pre-op: I had no fibroids or cysts prior to surg. , biopsy was done in office(that was far worse than the surgery!!)

Post-op: No baths or intercourse for 2 weeks

Good luck ladies :-P
