I really have to get this off my chest. I am 37 have 3 kids.   I had the Novasure procedure at the end of August this year.  At the same time I had a bilateral salphingectomy.  This was done to treat menorrhaggia.

The first week post op, I had a lot of discomfort and swelling but very little discharge, none at all for first few days.  This continued until week 5 post op when i started to bleed.  This bleed lasted for a week but was light.  I had my 6 week check up with the doc and told her I was not totally happy with it.  She told me that i should be happy because it was better than before I had it.  She also said that I must be one of the unlucky ones that it doesn't work properly on.   I used to bleed heavily for about 9 days a month.  I have had so many problems in this area (ovarian tumors removed in 07) that I am just over it all and was really hoping that this procedure would fix everything up.

last week at the 8wks post op mark, I started to cramp really bad.  The worst cramping ever!! It was so bad i had to lie down at work.  It even hurt to walk!  i then started to have a yellowish jelly like discharge.  Today it is 9wks and 2 days post op and I have started to bleed again.  So second period since the procedure.  It is light but I am getting lots of cramps and am a hormonal mess.

I am wishing so much that I had taken the option of a hysterectomy when it was offered.  I am not happy with Novasure at all.  I just didn't want to have more than two weeks off work.  Now I am going to have to go in and have the job done properly and have an additional 6 weeks off work.  I am so upset and uphappy with it all.  oh and weight!!! my weight is not going up because I do weights and 2 lots of cardio 5 times a week.  But I compete in bodybuilding comps and I have noticed that the weight is not coming off as easily as it normally does when i start getting ready for a comp.  So it is affecting my weight in a round about way.

Anyone know what happens to our eggs when we ovulate without tubes??  I am reading a lot that they turn  into cysts and then can rupture.  Is this the case?  as when i go in for a hysterectomy they will no doubt leave them in place due to my age and i don't want the problem of rupturing cysts!

I thankfully did not almost die but have a perforation of the uterine wall which is causing extreme pain in my lower left abdomen. The Dr. tried to cover it up and i had to seek a second opinion. I guess I will now have to have a hysterectomy. Is their no recourse against the doctor who performed the surgery because Novasure is a class 3 device?

The nova sure ablation is supposed to be a treatment for heavy periods. It seems that the women who have problems afterward are ones that have additional problems besides heavy bleeding. I suffered with heavy periods for the past two years and finally decided to have the Novasure ablation done. I had it 11 days ago and it was a breeze. My OB did it in his office. I had anesthesia and was in and out of the doctor's office within 1 1/2 hours. I went home and walked my dog and ate dinner with my family. I had mild cramping the next day but did not take any pain meds. I still have a watery discharge but no pain otherwise. The discharge gets less and less daily. Also, no constipation or bloating like others have reported. Hoping for light or no period in the future! I would recommend this procedure for anyone who deals with heavy periods. Make sure your doctor is very familiar with this procedure. Other medical issues should be dealt with by the proper procedure not Novasure.

I had the procedure in January of 2013. My friend had the procedure a few months before and had no problems and no longer had a period at all. I had dealt with really heavy periods for years, so opted to have the procedure. Even though I had problems with anesthesia before, they put me to sleep in the office and did the procedure. I woke up feeling sick and felt dizzy from the anesthesia. They gave me smelling salts and sent me on my way. I got home and I started having horrible pain in my stomach, sides and back. I have had three C-sections before and was up and going after 3 days...this was much worse than anything that I have ever experienced. I took pain pills which just dulled the pain a bit. The next few months, I still had a light period and cramping but nothing major. Then, in August...while out of town on business, it hit again. It was the right side and was so bad that I could not talk. I went to the ER and they gave me morphine for the pain. It eventually went away. It came back in November and I went to the ER, given sonograms, blood work and all testing. They were sure it was kidney stones, but turned out not to be that. I went to a new OB GYN and he told me that it was due to the ablation. That my uterus had not closed completely and the blood was trapped and could not get out. He scheduled a hysterectomy. The pain hit again right before the surgery. This time, I actually threw up, was in a cold sweat and passed out due to the extreme pain. I could not move, talk or even call someone to come get me, it was so bad. There is no way to explain how horrible the pain actually is, other than saying multiply labor pains x100. I would advise anyone thinking of having the surgery...not to. It is not a minor surgery, like I was led to believe. Trust me, you do not want to have to go through this kind of extreme, disabling pa

So glad you posted this! I don't know what to do. I had the NovaSure surgery and tubligation 5 days ago and have gained 12 lbs after 3 days in the hospital and I look like I am 8 months pregnant with a bloated belly. While at the hospital, I was on a IV in the hospital for 3 days because I became ill after the procedure with nausea, gas pains, and difficulty breathing. I also eat a very healthy diet (i., e., no sugar, dairy, wheat, simple carbs, ect.) I am just sick about this because I am getting married soon and I don't know if I'll be able to fit in my wedding dress. Has anyone else been though this? I would appreciate any advice you could give?

I would suggest having them remove the Fibroids. I had an ablation done 5 years ago. It worked for about 2 years. I have have worse periods now and pain is unbearible. I have to take Pain Killers to take the pain away. I get physically sick with my periods. I wish I would have just had the correct procedure done instead of 'covering' up the problem. I regret it every month

Thanks for your advice, I was also getting a bit freaked out, but after reading your story I feel a bit better. My story is very similar to yours, but I am booked in to have my first appointment with the Gy in April. I have a pretty good pain threshold so I am hoping I have a similar experience to you.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had a fibroid the size of a tennis ball and several small ones ..so I had the ffibroid removed and had an abdominal ablation on Sept 21 2016 ..had the normal discharge for 3 weeks ..then it stopped. ..it is now October 28 2016 ..my period has just started and I'm almost back at the point I was at before the ablation .... This problem has also made me a anemic ..just had my iv iron infusion 2 days ago ...I wish now I had done a hysterectomy. ...Also I was off work for 1 month .....had to take antibiotics for 1 week ...
I'm so disappointed ..

I just had the endoscopy ablation, d&c yesterday. Wasn't nervous. Eveyrhing went well, put under. Woke up to moderate cramping for about 7 hours. I didn't take any prescribed meds. Just aleve and heating pad. Seemed to help. Woke up today. Feel better. Bloated and little constipated. Little pink/yellow spotting. No real blood yet. Wish you all luck.
