I just had this biopsy today. Omg! My dr said your going to feel a “little cramping” and that was far from the case. It hurt so bad, and she had to do it twice. I literally almost jumped off the table! I vomited when she finished, I was shaking, got to my car and burst into tears. That was by far the most painful procedure I have ever experienced and I will never ever do that again.

I’m 54 and just had this procedure yesterday because of a period after 23 months of none. I was told I was having a consult, but they decided to do the biopsy instead. No warning. I hadn’t taken pain meds or brought a pad. I went ahead with it, and it was extremely painful. I had to breathe through the three “removals” and tried desperately not to cry. I also have a very high pain tolerance. It was an agonising unmedicated 45 minute drive home. I’ve been taking T3’s since and the cramping is still very painful. I can’t even stand up straight. What other biopsy is done so non-chalantly? What other biopsy do you leave after bleeding on the table without a pain med or person to take care of you? I will never do this again, cancer or not. Barbaric. No reason for this in 2023

53 here with 4 children including twins. I’ve had gum grafting surgery and sinus surgery- I thought those were the most painful experiences in my life. Wrong - this biopsy was! I screamed and asked the nurse if it was supposed to hurt this bad or was something wrong. She said “yes, it hurts that bad”. If they warned you, I guess you wouldn’t get it done! I’ve been in bed all day in excruciating pain - hardly relieved with a pain pill. This is ridiculous- a man wouldn’t put up with this pain - why should we?!

Yes to you all! I had an excruciating biopsy yesterday and am still in pain. I found this thread while googling to see if this is normal: This would never happen to men. Absolutely support the statement that there is no reason for this in 2023!

Had this done today during a routine Pap smear because of heavier periods and adenomyosis. Had 1 baby in labor 43 hours and have had many breaks and surgeries before. THIS pain was horrible, an immediate level 10, I screamed at the top of my lungs and burst into tears. Never offered the information about pain med or sedation being appropriate until afterwards. Was chalked up to “anxiety”, I’m telling you this is the fastest most brutal time I’ve ever been to a 10 on the pain scale. Unbelievable. Please ask for sedation, pain meds, etc. they said a little pinch and light cramping. This was having part of an internal organ ripped off with no medication and no warning.

I am 52 and have an often oddly high tolerance for pain. Today, I had an endometrial biopsy and was told it would involve “some cramping.” The [female] doctor said it would feel like the saline infused sonogram (SIS) I had just experienced, only that it would be faster. Total lie! The biopsy was the worst pain I have ever felt. I was embarrassed afterward because I had been pretty loud about the pain, which was entirely unexpected in comparison to the SIS. I thought I would pass out. Now, almost 12 hours later, I can still feel a dull ache. When I talked to the doctor afterward about how incredibly painful it was — far worse than the SIS — she mumbled something about taking that into consideration, whatever that was supposed to mean. It was absolute torture! She had me so convinced that I was the oddball in feeling pain, I got online to see if such unusual pain might be an indication of some other medical condition. So sorry all the people here went through it, but also very relieved to find that I’m not alone, no matter how much the doctor downplayed the pain.

I'm so glad I'm reading all these stories bc I was worried something had gone wrong! My doctor also told me it'd be just like a pap smear with some cramping and there were NO pain relievers that would help cervical pain! What?? A quick internet search proves that a lie. My adult daughter came with as a patient advocate and she thankfully yelled at the doctor to stop after I screamed TWICE to "take it out!" Worst pain of my life! Felt like I was being stabbed over and over by a sharp knife. I asked to see the tube because I was sure it was a knitting needle. The doctor had the nerve to act defensive and talk down to me like a child, as if I was just screaming for attention! The doctor continued to lie 3 more times about the procedure, the pain, and my options. My daughter stuck up for me every time. Even the nurse looked like a deer in headlights. These doctors must be a quacks from the Dark Ages! Women's pain is so ignored! Bless you all

I am 71 and just had a endometrium biopsy today. I have been told I have a high tolerance for pain. I delivered 3 children without medication, had a ruptured appendix, two broken bones in an ankle, a broken arm and more. This was the worst pain I have ever experienced. I told my husband it was barbaric. I will be put under next time. This is unacceptable cruelty in a world of modern medicine. I am so angry at the gyn and staff.

I had one yesterday, post menopausal bleeding and worse pain I ever felt and I feel like i have a high tolerance. Severe pinching and cramping, I was yelling in pain and crying. I have a really nice NP but she was acting in my opinion like I was overreacting. NEVER again. Cannot take advil on blood thinners and no warning as I just had the ultrasound and she wanted to go ahead and do the biopsy while i was there. YUCK
