I am anxious to hear from y having had HoLEP in 2012. That’s 9 yrs ago. How are things now? I wonder about how long this will be effective. Will the P GROW AGAIN or is this a once and done? Me 70 hrs old. P was 231g. HoLEP Moses 2.0 removed 177g and bladder stones. Day 9 and all is well. I had my first BM at day 7 using all the options y guys mentioned. It was a relief!!!

I had HoLEP last December in Temple, Tx, Dr Taleb (if I remember huw to spell his name). All is well except I still have some leakage even after 7 months post surgery. My bladder was quite stretched, so maybe that is why I still have some leakage. I often forget to do Kegels.

HoLEP’s track record is Ot is good for life, not that some others. So once we have had the procedure, we are good to go for rest of our lives. Just have to adjust to retrograde ejaculation. But for some Reason my climax while with my wife is more intense than before HoLEP , even without ejaculation. I find that strange.

I am scheduled for the HOLEP with Dr. Krambeck next month. It is reassuring to see a recent positive result. Some of the older comments are pretty scary.

2019 Johns Hopkins advised I have Open Simple Prostate surgery from 42 yr BPH world renown experienced Uro; My research disclosed Robotic Simple was less intrusive than Open- so, my quest brought me to Univ of Okla Cancer Center in 2/2020 w 20 yr Robotic experienced Uro - doing complete removal for cancer prostates n Robotic Simple for BPH; I was scheduled for Robotic 3/2020; 3 days before surgery, it was canceled due to COVID. I searched more during the year and found out the HoLEP n ThuLEP lasers were having good results w BPH. I found the top- in my i opinion Uros doing HoLEP in USA. I learned Dr Amy was pioneering Moses 2.0 HoLEP at NW. I sent my CT n 3tMri to her n chatted about my 231g P n bladder stones. I and HoLEP and Dr Amy was a match for my BIG prostate. 7/14/2021 177g removed. In at 10:30 n walked out hospital at 4:30pm w no catheter. She is a rock star and her Team is stellar! I have not regretted 1 second of making that decision.

Doc Truth, Me, HoLEP Moses 2.0 with Dr. Amy July, 2021; Doing great at Day 90 - although I did start experiencing 'the burn' at end of pee around Day 45 - it is getting less intense - but still feel the burn. Will this go away in time? Can you comment on 'the burn'?

Not sure what you mean by a burning feeling, but my urethra quiet was tender for what seemed like a long time before the tender feeling while urinating went away. Can't remember how long, but at least over 2 months, if memory serves. The tenderness did, however, eventually go away. My only issue is now ten months out and I still suffer a little leakage now and then. I know most by now, have no leakage. Cheers.

TY for replying...Good to hear your 10 Month report; I stopped any leakage around Day 60 or so....my only discomfort now is a 'burn' sensation at the end of peeing and also same sensation at the perineal area....no pain, feels like a blow of air in the urethea rushing thru....it was mentioned in my post op papers but it did not start until Day 45 or so..PA says eventually it will go away....other than that....all is good...231 g P and 177 removed as well as bladder stones with Moses. 2.0 Holep...

HoLEP has certain advantages for treating very large prostates (over 80 grams), but nearly everyone ends up with retrograde ejaculation. This significantly diminishes the sexual experience and can be avoided by choosing a surgery that spares the prostatic urethra. Robotic-assisted simple prostatectomy can do this. Another option may be Aquablation, although many urologists will not use this for prostates over 80 grams. If maintenance of near-normal sexual function is important to you, ensure your surgery will spare the prostatic urethra. Ask your urologist if surgery will spare your prostatic urethra. If you do not get a definite YES, seek surgery elsewhere. I regret having HoLEP in 2020 and feel robotic-assisted simple prostatectomy would have been a better option for me. Get more than one opinion prior to surgery, if possible.
