Hello everyone.
For the past 8 months or so, my stomach has been distended, uncomfortable and hard. I also have a dull ache in the lower right quad. I have had an ultrasound (pelvic and abdominal), an egd, and basic bloodtests: cmp, cbc, hep.
Eveything was normal. My stomach was a little red on the egd but no H. Pylori. etc.
I saw that the Dr. wrote something in my chart:
"epigastric fullness consistent with diastasis" but never said anything about that to me.
What other tests should I get done? I look like I am pregnant and I feel like there is fluid or something and it is very hard. It gets worse around my period but never fully goes away, ever. It doesn't seem to be related to my bowel movements at all. I have also taken every kind of fiber supplement , etc with no luck.
I would appreciate any input.
Thanks!

Hi guys, I'm Ken. I know what you must be going through, but I think it's hard for doctors to examine you and establish your diagnose without right information. Do you feel actual pain anywhere? I advise you to check what you're eating because there might be some groceries that might cause distended stomach. I have a question. Do you feel gassy? Do you feel pulsing anywhere? Also you need to observe have you had any nauseous moments or have you felt fatigue? You should visit a specialist in order to run full tests, because it can be literally anything. Good luck.

not sure if anyone still reads this, but i thought i would let you guys know just in case.

I went to the doctor at the end of november, and was lucky enough to get a doctor that really thought something was wrong. She had us go right to the ER to figure it out.

Took 5 pregnancy tests, all were negitive. I looked as though I was 10 months.8 hourse in the hospital and they finally gave me a cat scan, and thats when they discovered that I had a large mass in my stomach. It turned out to be a tumor. It had been pressing against all my organs, i nearly had kidney failure, and i had a cyst on my spleen because of it. I had my surgery on dec 2nd to have it removed and It turned out to be 40 pounds, 16,000 cc. It would have filled 8, 2 liter bottles. They almost had to remove my uteris, ovaries and spleen, but thankfully it wasn't cancer so they didn't have to. 51 staples later...Im fine now, still recovering, it going to take 3-8 weeks to get back to somewhat normal life. But let me tell you, looking in the mirror is the most insane thing ever. I went from weighing 220 to 180.

I had the same exact problems you guys had, a huge, oddly hard, liquid type stomach and it was the most embarresing thing in my life. Just don't give up on looking for the right doctor to finally say, theres really something wrong. Or get a cat scan! because they didnt even bother with a ultra sound.

and just to let you guys know im female and im 20, a week away from 21. So this truely can happen to anyone at any age.

If your still suffering from this "huge stomach" try getting tested for pancreatitis. Both my mother and father suffered form this. My father said he looked 9 months pregnant!!!

I've been dealing with this problem for awhile too. I'm typically a very thin girl but have always had a little extra skin around the middle. About a year ago I was starting to look a little pregnant and one day I passed something that looked like a fetus. I did a hormone test and it came back high (like a pregnant woman's) but they said that if I've never been tested before, I could always have high levels. They also said my uterus was hard but just said what I passed was a blood clot. Which it definitely wasn't! Then they found that I had an ovarian cyst and was going to ignore it. By the time I found a decent gyno and got into surgery, the cyst doubled in size to 14 cm. I looked 5 months pregnant and was in a lot of pain.
After the surgery I was still having sharp abdominal pains and was very bloated. They just guesssed that its IBS because everyone in my family has it. 8 months later, after still having random pain wake me in the middle of the night and after eating, I had awoke in agony. It lasted for a few hours and felt a little better after I vomited. My doctor thought it was related to my pancreas.
I had a catscan and they said my stomach is distended and I don't digest and pass food regularly. It just sits in my stomach. I'm going to see a specialist in a few weeks. And they are checking me for gallstones.

Hello - 1st time poster here, and so I am wondering if any other sufferers are still reading this thread?

Hate to get personal, but are any other sufferers who were post-hysterectomy when the bloating started? I was always thin in my younger day -- until I had 3 kids, and a desk job and put on sedentary wt.

But after my hysterectory several years ago, my entire abdomen has been HUGE! Originally the doc's said it was surgical swelling and would go down soon, and some of it did, but a yr later and I realized that none of my clothes were fitting - despite no wt gains.

It's been 9 yrs this month and I have been to the doctors too in the last 2-3 years with no answers. I did start paying more specific attention to any patterns and noticed that the severity comes and goes. Does this happen to anyone else? And does anyone else get horrible pain --like a hiatal (sp?) hernia - pushing UP on my stomach/diaphram? - and making it hard to eat anything?

Has anyone either gotten diagnosis and more importantly help & relief -- and specifically, has anyone been told they have Cushing's Syndrome?

I thank you in advance!

LOoK UP TWISTED BOWEL/SYNDROME, I have dealt with this for years, (please forgive any lack of punctuation, or errors in spelling; I'm in a hurry and have a 4 year old wanting my attention, plus im sick),all the hospitals and docs, saying it must be gas, or blockage, and everyone asking me when I'm due, it is usually after an abdominal surgery, it took me two years to get an answer.  A doctor cut me from my navel down, and with a hole in the abdominal wall muscle, a hernia, and ESPECIALLY scar tissue, that's the big issue.  I've got so much scar tissue, I cannot carry orstretch out for another baby.  A very good Gastrointerologist finally diagnosed me. Now I'm waiting for my next surgery, to be cut vertical all the way down again, and they think that I have scar tissue connected to my intestines, causing them to flip or twist, making it hard if not impossible for food or anything to try to continuously push things pastyour duodenum or wherever your twist/s may be occurring. I was very happy to have an answer, but due to the nature of scar tissue, removing it is not so easy.  Scar tissue has a nasty habit of coming back, even when removed, trust me, after going from no problems to getting caught in a house fire and suffering 40% carbon monoxide poisoning, also inhaling household poisons, old insulation. ( firefighters pulled me from the house before it collapsed, after I'd gotten respiratory failure, hospital removed 2 cups of tar from my lungs, said I wouldn't makeit, but God had other plans)- Basically think of a 9/11 post sufferer from all the dust, asbestos sufferer, over time it will cause more and more problems, and the reason I bring this up is I' saying trust me, I'm headed into my 30th surgery, and I'm 31.  So I know a bit about scar tissue.  This strangulated or twisted bowel syndrome can come out of nowhere, and can be hard to catch on an MRI or may just be seen as a blockage.  The Only thing I've found is having a GI surgeon 'tacking down your intestines, and attempting to remove scar tissue.  God bless you all, I know this may seem like an answer of not much help, trust me I'm as frustrated as anyone could be, but write a diary out each time you have anysymptoms, your period, and the last time of what and when yourate or drank anything?  ALSO this can be very dangerous because if your bowels completely twist, and nothing can pass through, necrosis and death may occur, so just make sure you go to the hospital, even if they treat you like you're making it all up and you're there due to swelling and pain, and they see you as a drug seeker, find other help, or keep going back, demand respect, you havepatient rights and do not deserve to not be treated seriously just becausethey can't 'see' the inside problem, try MASTIC GUM daily, all natural, from a natural food store, don'up give up!!!! God bless you.
