just wanted to say thank you this is a really helpful post. I am 273 lbs, and it looks like all of it is in my stomach!! Everytime I go to the doctor, they say it's a hernia but I don't buy it. They say lose weight and you may not need surgery. Hard to lose weight when you feel like your carrying around a bowling ball.
Hello Everyone,
I have the same problem and I think I finally found my answers. check out this disorder and let me know if you have it. If you mention this to the doctor they can do a simple test from your abdomen. You can either do it at home.
Type in the name of condition in youtube and you can look up videos how to loose it up, is a different type of exercise you need to do to corrected.
Diastasis recti. Your abdominal muscles may have separated during your pregnancy, causing a condition after pregnancy known as diastasis recti. This happens along the linea alba, which divides the abdominals into left and right halves. All the abdominal muscles attach here. Their ability to stabilize the spine is compromised when the linea alba is separated too far. Yes, this thin tendinous line can actually separate, creating a gap. The bigger the gap, the less tension and therefore stabilization will be generated by the abdominal muscles.
To test whether you have a significant separation of your abdominal muscles or diastasis recti, lie down on your back with your knees bent. Place your fingers over the center of your abdomen. Nod your chin to your chest and lift your shoulders just a little while contracting your abdominal muscles (you're essentially performing an abdominal crunch). Feel the distance between the left and right halves of the abdominal muscles with your fingers, starting at the top and moving down the length toward your pubic bones. It will be separated less or more depending where you are feeling along this line, so take your time to assess its whole length. Typically, the widest separation will be close to the belly button. Is there a gap running down the middle of your stomach equal to or less than two fingers' width? If so, then you have a mild separation that will probably resolve with correct conditioning. Current wisdom states that a linea alba separation equal to or less than two finger widths is not a significant separation. My belief is that if you have back pain and are unable to generate enough abdominal tension to stabilize it, even half a finger's width is too much. A pronounced separation wider than two and a half fingers requires more attention. If you see a small bulge protruding, this may be a herniation; you should contact your physician. In this circumstance, exercise caution when lifting, sitting up, and performing rotating activities
I have had a pain in the upper right abdomen, ultrasounds and ct have ruled out gall stones, or anything with liver. Thought it was kidney so had cystocopy twice due to problems and have a couple of cysts, following that caused hypertension and now found incompetent veins in leg.... But still no cause for pain.. Noticed last few days that abdomen becomes distended over the day! rather than all the time I'm post menopausal, but have thickened uterus ovaries are ok Anyone had symptoms like this
A candisis overgrowth! I had the same thing. That's what I was diagnosed with as well. I did Whole30 and a herbal kit to kill candisis in the gut.
