hi there,

i had a tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy 7days ago & although i feel my pain has been significantly reduced in my throat, extremely painful ulcers have appeared at the base of my tongue, around the back & along the sides of it.

the pain is still severe even with a mixture of drugs that have been prescribed to me for the post-operation pain.

swallowing salivia & liquids is about the only thing im managing (apart from eating some mushy weetabix) im not able to speak more than a couple of words at a time.

im considering going to see my doctor tomorrow but i wondered if any one has any advice on how i could ease the pain?

thanks

Hi,

Pain after tonsillectomy can be very sever and not everybody has nice healing process. Unfortunately I see that you are having some complications. First week is very important in healing process. It is painful but you need to endure it as best as you can. Are you using any pain medication? Are you on soft diet? I know that doctors tend to tell patients to eat regular food so the throat get used to it as soon as possible. But this is not always smart idea. Your ulcer might indicate infection so I would suggest that you use some antibiotics or go back to your doctor and ask some prescription for this. DO you have any problems with nasal cavity?
