My wife had degenerative disc disease and she had been referred to a surgeon. However, the fact that large percent of disc replacement surgeries are failed worried me a lot. I am not sure if it is smart for her to go under the knife. Any insight will be appreciated.
I work as nurse and I have seen many patients who have experienced a failed back surgery. It is common that much that it became syndrome. Estimates range from 50-70% of back surgeries fail, and success is defined as the condition not worsening post surgery, that is also for disc replacement. This means that the successes are those that stay the same or are better, so I think she should explore the option of chiropractic and then if there is no results….
Nurses should not be advising against therapy when they have not had the education to back it up. Consult a neurosurgeon to help you decide. you either live with chronic back pain or find an alternative. I had disk surgery 4 days ago and my recovery is going as planned.
Mine was three years ago and the pain is worse than it was before. As for the pocket........it has insurmountable holes after dishing out over $ 30,000.00 in Germany.
Yeah let's see how you are doing in five years meat head, nurses are more than good enough for me , they are the ones that have to deal with people like me who suffer every day because of scalpel happy doctors
