My wife has Fibro, Endometriosis and RA and has been on Oxy for almost 3-4 years through Kaiser. Last summer Kaiser decided that they could no longer cover her after missing a payment (yes 1 single pmnt) so we had to start finding a new doc.
What hell it has been to find a doc that would take her illness seriously and continue prescribing her the Oxy so she could work and exist. Went through 2 docs that basically didnt want to DEAL with that kind of meds. She is taking 6-8 80MG OC/day, no thats not a typo.
Moving ahead she found a great doctor that made her jump through all the Pain Management hoops and decided he would help her taper off and find some other way to manage her pain. Then he decided to give her a blood test for drugs...
She had admitted to smoking pot, which in our area is not only tolerated, but recommended by many doctors (the NW rocks) and so we expected to see that plus lots of things.
For some reason the blood test came back negative for ANYTHING. She demanded they give her another one, it also came back negative. WTF?!?!
I have watched my wife take Oxy, Neurontin, Nortriptaline, Prozac and Ativan for years and this is freakin bizare.
Now this Dr has cut her off cold turkey and will not prescribe anything to her.
The most bizare part, this fool wanted to sit down and explain to her what to expect from withdrawls and prescribe her some meds to help with the withdrawls, from the drugs he just told her weren't in her system!!! Ain't the US medical system grand?
Anyone ever had anything like this happen? What could cause a false NEG for that much dope?
UPDATE: She just went to a walgreens and bought a over the counter drug test and it showed positive for everything that would be expected, called the doc, he won't accept it because it's OTC.
