I am 35 years old. I am a very active mother of 2 with a physical work. I tend to go to the gym 3-4 times a week until...
10 month ago I had breakfast as normal and went to work. On the drive there i started feeling dizzy and when i got there i tried getting out of my car but had by then begin to lose my balance falling over to the right. I started to feel totally drained of any energy. I went to the A&E (ER) and they tested my blood sugar levels that were very hypo-glycemic. (even though i had just had a substantional breakfast of bran flakes, vitamines, cup of tea, wholemeal bread and OJ). My blood pressure was low. After eating again my blood sugar levels got back to normal again but my balance was still not right.
I got told not to drive my car and was put on some anti swelling tablets for a suspected middle ear infection. I didn't feel like i had an infection or a cold or anything like that.
The fatigue continued for 2-3 days with me unable to drive or doing anything too much other than lying on bed or on sofa in front of telly. I couldn't drive my car for a further couple of days as i didn't feel right.
The symptoms then disappeared and I felt almost normal again.
Then for no reason I got the same zapping of energy. loss of balance, dull ache of head lasting for 2-7 days at a time. It is totally crippling as when it comes on roughly every 3-5 weeks I can not do anything at all. I thought it could be related to diet and have tried cutting out dairy/gluten/caffeine from my diet but no real difference.
Some times I also get a fever but ONLY in the evenings. This is affecting my entire life as I have 2 small children and my own 2 businesses.
During all of this time I have been trying to train for a triathlon and this has meant road bike cycling for 1-3 hours 4-6days per week on top of running, swimming and horseback riding. I have been monitoring my weight and my fat percentage and despite the training my fat percentage has gone up from 25% to 32.2% despite a varied and normal diet and regular excersise. I have gained 7kg during this 10 month period despite eating a lot of salads and being a vegetarian,
I have had every blood test done to me but nothing comes up. Thyrod seams ok. I have high cholesterol but again not high enough for them to worry about it.
I still get the tired spells every 3-5 weeks and bad balance occasionally, the balance and the fever seams to coincide.
I have had a blood pressure monitor 24 hours and heart rate monitor fitted twice for 48 hrs and once for 3 weeks. They reveal that my heart sometimes misses a beat or two and it "fires" from different parts of the "chamber" could it maybe be called "auxillary pacemaker"? I have a low blood pressure but not low enough to ring an alarm bells. I am seeing a few specialists but no one can get a finger on what actually is the matter with me.
Sometimes i can feel the draining of my energy the day before it happens and if i don't do ANYTHING it slows it down and the fatigue is shorter and easier to cope with.
This is a new year and I am hoping to be well enough soon again to continue training and being an active mother again. Please help.

Hi honey! The ONLY question I have for you is this 1. Ask your mom when she started menopause?
My mother was sick for 18 months, She would have these attacks almost every 3 weeks like clock work.
She would be almost nornal and leave to go grocery shopping and return 30 minutes later in a bad sweat, running a fever, and feeling sick to her stomach. She would go to bed and stay there from 1 to 2 days; She was diagnosed with crohn's desease, after she was mis-diagnosed with food poisoning, an ulcer, and lactose intolerance. She was ran through a mountain of tests, had a surgery to see if it was her appendix, and a surgery to check her colon. In the end it wasn't crohn's disease at all.
One day we rushed her to the ER and happened across a doctor that got it. He ignored the previous surgery and diagnoses and removed my mom's appendix. He found a very small tear that had burst, he said that it was healing over and then every 3 weeks it would burst again. My mom made a full recovery, has lost some of the weight she had gained and is back to being super woman. She never had the kind of pain that we thought went with an appendecides, but the sweating, tiredness, and fevers were a constant. It has been 2 years since she last got sick now. I hope you get better.

Hello there, hope you are doing well and have gotten some relief from your symptoms. I came across your post as I have spent 2 years trying to figure out what is going on with my health. I have the same symptoms as you! I am not certain of a fever, but I do feel hot sometimes & my face feels hot & red. I have vertigo spells to the point where I cannot walk and I vomit. I also have had extreme weight gain & I can't lose any weight no matter what I do. I exercise and I eat well, but cannot shed the pounds or feel like myself again.
I am 32 years old & have had one child. Symptoms include vertigo, weight gain, acne, dry skin, and tired most of the time
Have you had any luck with getting any answers or feeling better?

I've got the same symptoms! If you ladies happen to get a valid diagnosis, please post it. :-)
I have been looking into Adrenal Insufficiency. It takes only a saliva test to check your cortisol levels.
Hi! I know this is a year later-- hopefully you have gotten answers since this post. But in case not, I wanted to share my experience. I am struggling with a lot of the same symptoms. For the last year my weight has fluctuated up-and-down 20 pounds or more. I've had bouts of acne, I'm extremely exhausted all of the time the matter how much sleep I get. I feel weak and have no strength. no libido. And I feel sort of meloncholy all the time.. And very anxious. Anyway I have seen multiple doctors, and had blood work done. All to just say that everything looks fine, I am vitamin D deficient, and that I should look into depression medication!!! So frustrating. I know there's something wrong with my body. So I recently came across a new Doctor Who takes a more holistic approach. I just sent in stool and saliva samples, and am getting my blood drawn soon too. She tests for a full range of tests- especially when it comes to the thyroid. Modern doctors (and insurance) will only test the T1 & T2.. And I guess the T3 & T4 is where problems Reside for women. So I am paying cash to have the full pannel run. This new doc thinks I have a thyroid issue and adrenal fatigue.. Hopefully this helps you!
I have been feeling complety exsausted and off balance for weeks now havent drove or anything I have been feeling the same symtoms that some of you have desribed the E.R ran about every test I can think of at first they thought I had vertigo now they think it is P.O.T.S syndrome Although I only have some of those symtoms
Hi!! Have you found any resolutions yet? I am 27 and have continued to suffer from weight gain even though I have maintained a healthy diet and lifestyle as well as dizziness, irritability, no libido, and random bouts of nausea. Did I mention I'm extremely tired all the time? I also paid outright for a holistic doctor to do hormone testing and genetic testing to find a solution. I did have several levels that were off but any regular PCP said it was fine. She put me on 20 different vitamins but trying to take 10 pills a day twice a day is a little much, plus super expensive! I really need help here...I feel like i'm going crazy and I hate that it takes the life out of me and I can't do the things I used to love to do.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Hello - I'm having the same symptoms! Any conclusions to your ailment? This has been terrible for me. I've gained 20 lbs since the vertigo started 4 months ago. I'm sluggish - tired - down in the dumps - its hard to concentrate. All my energy has been zapped from me. Ugh.
I was referred to endocrinologist. ....lengthy time but, diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis... taking Levothyroxine .... can't tell change yet but, I have faith that, given time, I will feel better.
I'm also on an antidepressant. They might be helping!?!?
4 years ago, I was diagnosed with RA but, declared that it was a false positive bc if runs in the family. .. I was just thinking I felt fine even if it was not exactly true. I thought I was ok
All this said, I keep feeling worse and worse... I research and come up with lots of things that could be going on causing these symptoms. .. primarily, I am thinking autoimmune problem... I have an appointment with Rhumitologist. .. another lengthy wait. Hopefully, get to the bottom of this or at least closer to feeling better. .
My best advise is to keep at working with the specialists to get help.

It's been exactly the same for me! Went from riding my bike 25-40 miles a day, 6 days a week...to finding it hard to rise from the bed, which is becoming my prison:(
