I've been having the same problem as most of you guys......... It's happend two times for me, the first time it lasted a while I kept trying to look in my throat to try and see if I could see anything well at first I couldn't see nothing at all then a few days later I started seeing something white in the way back of my throat on the right side, well I tried getting it out but it wouldn't come... Then finally I got it off one day but I still felt it.. but, after i got the white out i started feeling it move around like in my throat... Well, that lasted like a few days (it moving around) then finally it went away... and now I feel it a again, I've tried looking in my throat again but I can't see anything, this time it feels a little bigger then what it did last time... I've tried everything to get rid it, still don't know what it could be.. Does anyone have any idea on what it could be?

Hello. I've also been having a feeling (intermittent for the last year or so) that a bit of food is stuck on the right side of my throat, always in the same place. Actually, sometimes I am even able to cough up a bit of caught food, so I know that at least sometimes the feeling is more than "just a sensation" and is based in fact. I, too, went to an ENT who mentioned acid reflux and prescribed meds for that. I've also had a barium swallow test which didn't show anything. The reflux meds are helpful, so I'm sure the doctor was right about acid reflux. However, I still think something else is going on. You see, when I gargle, I only have feeling on the left side of my throat... I cannot feel a thing on my right, which is the side where I have the swallowing issues. Does anyone else have this? I should also mention that about 9 years ago I had my right thyroid removed for what turned out to be Hurthle cell adenoma (a type of benign thyroid lesion). The swallowing symptoms, however, didn't start until 7 or 8 years later, so I'm not sure how they can be connected. Anyway, I'm wondering particularly if anyone else has the loss of sensation that I've described. Thanks! Hope everyone is getting the answers they need!

I am having the same feeling in my throat. Like a pencil stuck in there and I feel in in the front of my neck and it is also affecting my spine. I also got a CAT scan done that shows that I have a possible small hiatal hernia. I am finishing pharmacy school and so I got a copy of the scan and I can see it. Part of the stomach slides up through the diaphram and this is very common, hence all of the posts. I had an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) done and the Dr. missed it. What can happen is that the stomach moves up and so does the esophagus. I am sharing my story because it is a possible answer to our problem. I am following up with my Dr. and need some relief from this soon. I can comiserate with all of you how bad this is and how much anxiety it is bringing. Please follow up with your Dr. and do not worry. Sometimes looking on the internet can bring more anxiety too. Prayer can help also. (sorry for the guy that has no God - sad to bring on that misery)
Good luck to everyone!

I felt the same thing in my throat on the right side, but I thought it was something else. I came home the other night after partying and ate on some chili, the next day I had me another bowl and I swallowed something that definitely was not food, I guess I dropped something in when I was buzzed. I immediately made my self vomit to get it out of there but it didn't budge. So I went to the emergency room and the doctor seemed to think I had just scratched it and that is why I still felt like I had something stuck in there. Haven't eaten anything since and I'm freaking out. I feel better after reading some of this but to think that that bone might be a piece of my spine is not very comforting.

there are a lot of other things besides tumors it could be.. commonly absesses, food and saliva get stuck on the uneven surfaces of the tonsils and build up infection.. they can be drained although it kinda sucks..

I have the same issue as well. It started as something getting snagged after a swollow then I would swallow again even though it felt like I couldn't and it would pop and go away for a while. After a few times it finally didn't pop and kind of ached. I think it got permanently snagged or something. Now it just feels like I have something stuck in the left side of my adam's apple.

You've described the problem perfectly. I am currently experiencing this but it isn't my first time. I had this problem about 10 years ago and it feels as if I'm trying to swallow a part of my throat. It makes you swallow instinctively and if you swallow too hard it actually feels like it's tearing. The last time I got it the sensation eventually moved down toward my stomach over time then it got better on its own. This time I've had it for 5 weeks now and it isn't showing signs of getting better yet. I keep swallowing this little bud of skin and it just keep popping back up. It's enough to drive a man crazy. I had my throat X-Rayed to make sure I didn't have an obstruction there and I got the all clear yesterday. I'm sure it will go away on its own again but it's definately annoying. I also believe certain foods make it worse. I love lemons and hot sauces and I eat them often. I've stopped eating them a couple of days ago to see if that would help. No luck so far but I'll give it a week or so to make sure.

i have been going through the same thing for about three months now and my docs have told me there is nothing but i can feel it and it is exactly like yours is. it feels like a flap but mine seems to be in the middle and causes me to cough severly, to where i have hurt my ribs and then i vomit. i have lost over ten pounds in the last two wks due to the vomiting getting worse. i am weak, tired, moody, with headaches and my whole body in pain. i just want it to stop and i am going to have to force someone into doing so because this is taking over my life.

Hello,
I have the exact same issue down in the right side of my throat. My right tonsil is out too and it looks like it's pushed out from behind it, but I can feel something rough deeper inside with the base of my tongue, down in my throat like you said. Only on one side. I went to an ENT and he just used this small mirror to look behind my tonsil and said it looked okay but I might have acid reflux. I took 2 boxes of Prilosec, they're all gone now and nothing's really better. Wonder what caused this, it's been ongoing for 2 months too. Just thought I'd let ya know you're not alone out there.
