I identified with everything everyone wrote. I then went to wikipedia for tonsil stones and found that irrigation is a form of removal. I stood over the sink with a full water bottle and started jet-streaming it towards the back of my throat and after about 10 squirts, a small stone came out.

This is so remarkable that I can actually find someone that was having the same exact issue as I am. The popping noise in the throat happened to me too this morning and ever since I have had nothing but pain in my throat. I dont feel good and was thinking to go to the doctor but now that I have read this, I will hold off. I smoke too so I figured that had alot to do with it but now its coming down...thanks for info...

I just started experiencing this as well, it is perfectly defined by all of you.  Hoping it goes away quickly, I do not like this discomfort at all.  May go to the clinic later today as a precaution.

i have the same problem on the right side of my throat. It started off about 2 months ago when I caught the flu and had a bad cough and wicked post-nasal drip which got me in to instinctively swallowing hard all of the time. Towards the end of the flu (I was also really run-down as my son was sick before and after and I was working with no sleep....) I noticed my tonsil on the same side looked all protruding with those cream coloured stones in them. I managed to take some out my self, and gargled with salt water. Within about a week, it was gone, but I still feel as if below the tonsil It is swollen and makes a "crick" sound when I swallow. It kind of feels like pieces of cartilage rubbing together.

Also, I notice a small pain at the same spot when I have indigestion - like a bloated stomach......sort of like the air from my stomach is pushing on pressure point that causes deferred pain.

The wierd part about it all, is that when I'm really busy, and mentally consumed with something elas, I don't notice the problem......One more thing....It feels better to swallow food or drink liquids. It feels stranger to just swallow nothing. This sounds crazy, but true....anyone with a similar experience

The same thing just happened to me.  I was sitting at the computer (desktop) and resting my chin on my hand.  My elbow was resting on the keyboard support.  Right when I swallowed, there was a loud "popping" sound and I felt a terrible pain in the front of my throat.  Now it hurts like hell when I swallow.  I sure hope this goes away sometime soon.  It really aches bad.  Glad to read that your pain when away in a couple of days.

If you are undera lot of stress youmay have a hypochondris which refers to the sensation of somethign in you r throat. I had this happen to me when I father became very ill. I actually had to learn how to control my anxiety in order to deal with the sensation in my throat. Rule out anytign medical first which it seems you have. Hope thie helps.
