Hi, guys. My son has been diagnosed with ptosis. His ophthalmologist would recommend surgery, but I am not so sure. I think he is too young for this. I would like to know if fixing this condition is really necessary in this way. I would appreciate if someone could tell me something more.

Hi, there. Ptosis does not get better in time. That is why I think you should consider surgery. However, before surgery, it is necessary to determine the cause of ptosis. Removing this cause is very important step. Almost all these conditions are treated by surgery. If you are worried, talk to your kid’s ophthalmologist about the details. Everything will be all right. I hope I’ve helped. Bye!

Hallo,
You have to know few things about ptosis before you think that the surgery is not a good option. How old is your son? What cased his ptosis? If there is underlying cause of ptosis that can be cured than the surgery is really unnecessary because you just have to treat the underlying cause. Also if this is done by injury or some other trauma to the eye you need to have a surgery to remove the ptosis efficiently and permanently. In my opinion your son will benefit most from the surgery, and the surgery is not that complicated as well. I hope this helped you a bit.
All the best to you,
Karen
