I had a similar symptom. it then developed into a small area of distorted vision at the exact same place the light appeared when i blinked. The diagnosis was macular scar/ lacquer crack so do see an ophthalmologist.

Interesting. I just noticed a similar thing. i went to an optha and all he saw was a small retinal blood spot. I just realized I've been taking sea buckthorn for 2 months and that has Vitamin K. I see him again in 3 weeks and I'll mention this.
did you lose part of your sight? How did they catch or treat it? You don't mention in your post. Thanks.

What kind of specialist did you go to? What was the title? thanks. (I need to know if I need to seek out a "super" specialist...) I have a similar symptom and have been to an ophtha ... all he said he saw was a small blood spot. I'm seeing him again in three weeks. I am not diabetic as far as I know.

In my case, it was only a week after i saw the light when i blinked that the small area of distorted vision developed.

I see blurred (straight lines appear wavy) in that area of distorted vision, which grew slightly larger and then stopped growing. They saw a scar on my retina, and did two tests, an FFA and an OCT. this was to make sure there are is no leaking neovascularization (new vessels growing behind retina) cz in that case you need injections in the eye. But since, Alhamdulillah i din have any such leaks, they din treat me at all. Now i have started seeing some white sort of lights in that eye,but nothing has appeared on the retina, Alhamdulillah.

Angel,
What happened with your eyes? What did they do about the occlusion? Your post implies there was nothing you could do?

Sorry for so many posts. I thought when I hit "reply" it would go directly under the post of the person I was trying to speak to; I didn't realize they would all show up at the end of the thread.

Thanks to everyone above for their replies.
UPDATE
This is an update for anyone who might be helped by the info. I did go see a retina specialist who confirmed diagnosis of a resolving retinal hemorrhage and then injected dye into arm and did a fluorescein angiograph to determine cause. He said it was likely due to a small occlusion that was no longer present (he saw some teeny white blood cells whatever that means) which caused the hemorrhage and was now resolving. I did not need further treatment and will go back in 6 mos. unless something changes. Other eye totally normal.
It's been about a month now and I don't notice it except for in the morning when my eyes are naturally dilated. If I didn't know where to look for the remnants I probably wouldn't notice it at all anymore. It is more noticeable when eyes are dilated either naturally or artificially.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
DIABETES/HYPERTENSION TEST RESULTS
I tested negative for diabetes and hypertension. In fact my tests were quite good. I still have a liver function test to go. I was under a lot of stress at the time, so I theorize I could have had a spike in either, but I do not have the conditions.
COMPUTER USE CORRELATION
Still, I read through some of these posts and can't help but relate them to my situation leading up to this event. I was working on computer until 4AM for many nights, sometimes going to bed with it and using it w/o glasses like a book until I fell asleep. Bad I know. My eyes were incredible rigid.
A few days ago I was using computer in a similar way and the same flash became slightly more "activated" - I shut that computer so fast. I will never use it at that close range again or overuse it even if they don't think it's related. Everyone around me had been commenting that with all the work my eyes were very red in a normal way - maybe I inflamed them. Whatever. Never again. Sleep is my friend. Bright digital light is probably like the crack of light to your retinas.
When I first noticed this, it seemed to be in the very lower left of right eye, but that's only because I am focused on computer so much that it seemed that way. When I used Amsler grid, it was actually lower left of central vision; it's just that I so rarely am focused looking up and out like our caveman ancestors.
Oddly, I became so visual field obsessed that I noticed a lighter similar area in my other eye that tested completely normal... perhaps a residue of a similar situation? The retina dr. said he could see nothing in that eye and it was completely normal.
VITAMIN K CORRELATION?
So I still don't know what caused the small occlusion. I wrote the makers of the supplement I had mentioned earlier. They said they had vitamin K and omega in it. One works as a blood thinner and the other to coagulate. I don't know if they cancel each other out or you get really thin blood that coagulates too much.
The retinal Dr. scoffed at this being a factor , but at the same time told me to not take supplements unless doctor-recommended. I had started taking it for 3 mos before and quit at the time of event. It was sea buckthorne and was for skin health.
They claim it is also supposed to lower cholesterol levels and when I had my cholesterol tested along with my blood sugar, it was really low. I run lowish, but not this low. It was 146 total, 83 LDL. Maybe I've found the first supplement that actually works or maybe my cardio alone did it, who knows?
That's all I have. Hope someone finds it useful. Good Luck to everyone.

I have developed the bright light when I blink in my right eye this month. I have scar tissue over the retina, and have mac degeneration. I am 71, and due to the mg, I am really concerned that I may be losing sight in my other eye too. I have an opthalmalogist appt in June, and am anxiously awaiting that time. I'll give an update after my appt. Good luck to all of US...shelby...♥

Hi, I've been seeing these flashes for like a month. I see the white light flash in my peripheral vision to the right. I mostly see them at night after using the bathroom, but I mostly use the bathroom after I've been on my laptop in the dark for a few hours, so maybe the changing light level has something to do with it. Maybe using my laptop for so many hours at night has something to do with it too, since kristysojo mentioned computer use. I hope this is nothing serious like it has been with other posters here. I probably won't get a chance to see an ophthalmologist any time soon but if I ever go I'll post what the doc tells me here.

Hi, I'm 14 years old and I have pretty much the same symptoms as other people except mine's only at night and not every day. I also have dry eyes. Most people who have it seem to be adults, so I wondering if it's normal for younger people like myself to also have these symptoms. Thanks.

Yes even a 14 year old could have these symptoms. Plz visit an ophthalmologist. Dry eyes are sometimes because of diseases that invole other body organs too

I get dry eyes, probably from staring at the computer screen for so long at night and not blinking often. I wonder if the dry eyes has something to do with it.
I've also noticed that I can feel a sort of pressure in or near my eye right before I see the flash. It feels like it is either pushing out from in my eye, or pushing up into my eye from below. It's not an intense pressure, just very slight, but I am feeling it before seeing the flashes.
