I have been having a similar issue with my eyes. It comes and goes. Maybe once a month or so maybe 6 months but I have three small purple dots in a triangle shape and the rotate counter clockwise all in sync. It only happens when I look at bright objects. (Sky,white walls, white paper ect.) goes away instantly when I look at something Dark. I have tons of stress and always tired. I was diagnosed before this happening to me with hiv (not the end of the world) but the medication I take may have something to do with it. (Never happened before hand) I don't think I am going blind just think it's due to stress and anxiety. Going to the drs in a few weeks.(Probably won't find anything)

It probably won't subside. I have had flashing/slashing arcs in my left eye for 8 years. Doctors can't do anything for it either.

I have an answer to this problem. I just got a diagnosis of retinal ischemia. Mine is very localized. My doc was able to diagnose based on comparing two retinal pictures, one from a year ago. I have been on this salmon diet for 2 months. He feels the high lipid content is restricting blood flow to a vessel in my retina. He showed me where my retina color changed and that area would explain the arc I see when I blink. The arc is just a portion of a blood vessel. My condition started after a morning workout. Scared the c**p out of me. My situation will recover if I change my diet. I am so glad to have found this site. I hope my story helps others.

It's just your retina reacting to day to day light, try protecting your eyes from bright objects for a week or two. Don't worry, this is very normal and happens to about 90% of the population at some point in their lives.

The same thing happens to me too, but all the time... Not just when I'm in a lot of light.

Went to Dr today. He looked long and hard inside my eyes and said my retina had not torn. He explained the vitious tears off the retna and its a natural part of aging. He said as long as it doesnt tear the retna while doing so, i am fine. it will finish coming off and my eyes will be fine. He told me if I saw a black curtain or if the flashes started going crazy to return right away. He wants to check me in a week.

I have same stupid thing only mines a small bright line. Doc says not a retinal tear or serious. Have a dilated eye exam tho just make sure. Ok? Take care good luck. Darius

This is sometimes a symptom of a dry eye or dry section. If no other big floaters or dark mesh not worrisome but have a dilated eye exam to rule out retinal tear or possible detachment. Here's a test: Repeatedly blink (rapidly). If symptom dissppears probably dry eye. There are OTC drops (no prescription).
Good luck all. Darius

I have had moderate myopia for years. (-5.75 left eye and -5.50 right eye). I am 29/female and recently had a torn retina in January 2016. I never saw any floaters or flashes of light prior and they appeared out of nowhere. I instantly went to see a retinal specialist who spotted the tear and additional thinning areas in my left eye. I had a laser to seal the tear(which was not too painful). There was just a bit of pain for a few days after. I have been back to the doctor's about 4 times since. So far so good. I still see occasional floaters especially at work on the computer and flashes of light when I blink really hard. The doctors I see advised this is normal and to report and "new" floaters or flashes that are out of the ordinary. I freak out every day about it but am learning to cope. I hope my experience can help someone reading it...

This seems to be what I have, a triangle of black on a white surface, and a triangle of white on a dark surface. It happens when I blink and then basically goes away. Is there a reason I should have it looked into? I'm 60 and have a family history of diabetes.
