GOSHH!! what is wrong with this world. I am one of the prednisone victim who experienced the bad side effects from it, mostly mentally. As soon as realized it was the drug i started to do research about it and the more i knew that any form of corticosteroids can cause the psychological effects. From, oral steroids short burst for asthma or pain relief, IV cortisone, cortisone shot (injection), and now this Flonose (which should be the one that least absorb to the system) and many more and making people insane and nobody cares about. Those people are still suffer and no doctor or anybody can give us the answer of what is going on to our mind. If these kind of side effects happen it shouldn't even be in the market. I know corticosteroids therapy safes lives but it also make a lot of other people life like a living death, can't be who they are can't function. and FDA is not giving a fk. I have tried so many times to tell people don't use steroids and there were like you are not a doctor what do you know.. and then i can see them gradually change to someone like me, anxiety, moody, personality change, mostly it took happiness and joy away.

Help me please. I am now going to a psychiatrist who says the nasal steroid spay after 28 days off should be out of my system but I am still having terrible anxiety. Took it for about 3 weeks. I probably have to go on anti-anxiety meds now forever. Read that a girl went psychotic from this same thing after starting anti-anxiety meds from adverse effects from a corticosteroid. I am really scared.

hi, i had develop terrible anxiety and disconnection from using this nasal spray. I only took it once and i had my first panic attack the next day and it went on for about a week and i thought it was over. I guess my nervous system took a hard hit, Two months later i had a nervous breakdown, my mind was broken and tripping to the point where i had to quit my job. I i think the spray must have messed up my nervous system where i wasn't able to take stress anymore. I even went to a psychiatrist and she prescribed me medicine but I didn't take it. I just keep telling myself that what i was perceiving could be my reality to help me cope up with my anxiety. Its not an easy feeling but it will get better. its been a year now since i last took it and i still feel disconnected from reality( derealized) and anxious.

I have this mutation and experienced severe anxiety after about three weeks of using Flonase. Can you tell me where you got information about Flonase affecting folks with the mutation? Thanks.

Yes. I had a similar reaction, it started 4 days after use. I stopped it. The symptoms ttly went away about a 4 days after use, I imagine it will be longer to leave your system, if you have taken it for longer. After the first time of using it and seeing panic attacks/anxiety/insomnia were not listed as a side effect, I thought maybe my reaction was just related to something else somehow, so I tried Flonase again, and bam, 4 days later, I had a panic attack, could not sleep, and ended up crying through the night. Also, note, I do not have anxiety at all, like at all. I am a very mellow person, not much bothers me, I didn’t even really know what real anxiety felt like until Flonase. I empathize greatly with people who have it naturally now.

My blood pressure actually went up while I was on Flonase. I think it is terrible the company doesn’t have it as a side effect.

All,

This forum has brought me so much peace. I hope all of you are doing well to this day. I used flonase for years on and off with no side effects (that i know of). I started 2 months ago again for allergies and I had a panic attack for a week straight with no break. I ran out of flonase I believe and then i was fine for a month, until i started flonase again 2x spray each nostril once a day. After about a week, i googled Flonase Anxiety and found this. Since Flonase is the only med i was on. I went to the psychiatrist for the first time they perscribed me Lexipro and Klonopin (which i haven't taken). Prior to this, i had some anxiety (OCD and hypochondria) but never to the point of not feeling comfortable in my own house and panic attacks. The only other time i had a panic attack was when i ate a pot brownie that was too much for me to handle (lol). I am 9 days off flonase now, and i have good times and bad times still. I would say im about 60% better. I am hoping each day will be easier. When i feel uneasy i come here and re-read the posts so that i remember im not alone and it will pass.

I want to remind you all reading this, you aren't alone. I thought i was going crazy, my wife would divorce me and i'd lose all i love in life. I stopped playing video games, eating, etc. I am back on gaming, eating and getting better each day. Thank you so much

Stay Strong. God Bless.

I have had the exact symptoms you described. I literally had just told my husband that was feeling super anxious and felt like it may be the Flonase! Then I looked up Flonase and anxiety and this feed popped up. I am relieved to read it’s not just me. I’m just praying this feeling goes away soon. I am considering trying some CBD oil to help me sleep.

Hi! I wrote the post above yours about a week ago. I am here to update everyone on my situation. I took it 2 sprays each nostril every day for 2-3 weeks. I stopped almost 3 weeks ago and feel around 85% back to normal. IT DOES GO AWAY but it's VERY SLOW. In the moment you will feel like it will never end. You will doubt yourself and think you are going crazy. You are not going crazy. I did not feel any relief until around the 2 week mark of me being off it. I stopped cold turkey. CBD oil does help I used it a lot. Also I was prescribed Klonopin I only took it 3 times in the 3 week span of me being off Flonase. 3 nights in a row and it seemed to help tremendously. Just be careful and don't overdo it. Cut out caffeine for the time being and alcohol. Find a show you enjoy like big bang or something like that and as hard as it may be try and get lost in it. It will go away. Stay strong trust your body and give it time. Steroids like this don't just go away over night. And I can confirm as you see above I felt like it would never end. I had no previous diagnosis of anxiety before this episode.

I am so glad I found this site. I went to Dr because I had Afrin rebound congestion. He put me on an oral Steroid, Flonase & Claritin (right after I just took my last pain Killer hydrocodone from shoulder surgery I had to get weaned off of ugg). The oral steroid was a quick fix for inflammation 6 days decreasing by one until off. However, they said that Flonase would not continue and have the effects the oral did and could quit anytime I wanted. So as instructed by the dr. I took the Flonase of a night (he said it would help with stuffiness).. I have not gotten any sleep.... which now has developed into anxiety. I switched to morning w 1 spray vs 2. My symptoms kept getting worse, now a cough, tightness and have to set up to try to sleep which is not sleep it is more like dosing all night long. I understand how people want to commit suicide. Of course the dr doesn't think any of this is from Flonase. I never had this problem before, not even with all the pain from my shoulder injury. I may have woke up with from leaning on my arm, adjust, and went back to sleep. I have now been off a little over 48 hours... does anyone know or has experience how long this sleeplessness will last after stopping... The breathing I think has already started to be a little better and haven't felt like I have had to cough as much... but this sleep thing and anxiety is a vicious circle. Anxiety about going to bed afraid of not getting any sleep and nights are so long. I used to be able to lay day, sleep in 5 minutes and sleep all night... Tuesday (last time I used) I was up literally all night, concentrating on each breath I took. Wed.. stopped taking Flonase and today (thur) has been a little over 48 hours... can anyone give me a ray of hope I will be able to sleep again.

Hi Angel: I had the same problem with the breathing. I have had it a few times thru the day ... but mostly the onset is when it is getting close to bed time. I used for 2 days being 3 weeks. I layed awake conscious of each breath I was taking 2 days ago (Feb 23) all night long. I have been off now for 48 (Feb 25) hours. I started taking bc of Afrin rebound congestion. The Dr put me on oral steroid for 6 day decreasing by one ea day until off. Flonase and Claritin. I started feeling symptoms a little over a week of not sleeping, anxious. Called Dr and wanted to stop he said he wouldn't recommend it at this point until I go back to seem him (3/2). They told me the Flonase is not the cause of the sleep but from the oral steroid. Well I have been off the oral steroid off over 2 weeks and ask them if the Flonase could carry over from steroid and they said no...(I don't believe that now). I found another site that had a lot of these reviews on it as well... I quit taking. I am just hoping my sleep pattern will get back to normal
I never had this problem even with my shoulder surgery... waking up because my arm was scrunched, adjusted and went back to sleep. This vicious circle... can't sleep, anxious about not being able to sleep when it starts getting time for bed, not eating have lost over 20lbs. I am glad you figured it out right away.. I hope you have no more problems. I hope mine goes away soon.
