Hey guys. I'm 25 and having quite healthy lifestyle (exercise, balanced diet, etc), yet I used to have the same problem for about 2 years during autumn/winter season - like, getting flu, mild fever and sore throat out of nothing 2-3 days before my period started and spending next 2 weeks feeling like sh*t, mostly just sleeping and being unable to focus on anything. This was really frustrating and completely unacceptable because u can't just take a week off every month from school/work. So I went to my GP and she said it had something to do with immunity system being disturbed by drops in hormone levels. She suggested (quite simply, yet logically) I get seasonal flu vaccine (costs like 10-15 EUR, has to be renewed every year in autumn) to improve immunal response, since it can block out about 40-60% flu/cold-like infections, plus she arranged for me an appointment with immunologist who prescribed Luivac (immunity-booster medicine to be taken for 2 months). This has helped me tremendously so far, last winter (i.e. december to march) I only got mild cold once and the overall relief is immense. So maybe it's not that much of OBGYN problem than it is immunity problem, or at least it can be helped much more easily as such.
I had a friend with similar symptoms, among others. She finally, after seeing a holistic doctor was put on the right track & then a blood test confirmed lymes disease. Hope that isn’t the case for any of you, but feels worth mentioning.
I think it would be good for everyone to check out their ferratin level. Its part of the iron in our system. Low ferritan means low iron stores. Losing hair depression etc. Mine is loooowwww. Im taking iron currently with vitamin c for maximum absorbtion. People should check it and dont listen to the doctor if they say your fine your ferratin is for example....7 or 10. It should be at least 50. My husbands 200!! Very jelous....
FB Msg me at Suzanne Maltman and i can put you in youch with a group of homeopaths that have a terrific group. They are incredible and teach everyone as the go...
where can you get it the chico leaves?
Sounds like symptoms from Fibromyalgia and periods are compounding the issue?
Have you any answers or found relief? You sound exactly lilke me! Been 2 + years of this for me.
Did you ever get any answers? I too am struggling. I have had flu symptoms for 2 years... straight! They are disabling though week prior and week of period. Started with diagnosis of lyme disease, then fibromyalgia. Diagnosed with endometriosis 12 years ago, but the flu feeling is worse than the cramps.
Great information. A place to start sounds like boosting my immune system before my period would be helpful.
Hi
I am glad I came across this post as I am facing a similar problem. Each time before my periods I am sick as hell just like a flu and this situation has started after I got an IUD inserted. Doctors say the two are not related but I have my serious doubts. Did you find out if the two r related or got any other solution?

Yep I have plenty of dairy and no soy at all and I have flu symptoms before my period. Probably about 2 years now. Been to doctor had a major check up, even colonoscopy. All healthy. Absolutely nothing wrong. I do have low iron and low iron is a chronic mineral deficiency affecting the world, even westernised countries. Wonder if its linked to low iron??
