Age 31, given birth to one child. I've recently pinpointed this happens a few days before my period. I can't say that it happens every month but almost every month. I weigh 125 and am 5'1. I've been consistently exercising and trying to eat better but since I started exercising I'm consistently I'll a week of every month. Prior to exercising I saw Dr for adhd and was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. Only took antidepressant for a month, tried adhd medicine with no relief from my craziness. Although my house was wicked clean and organized on adhd meds. Because of just realizing this occurs right before my period, I can't exactly tell you how long I've been dealing with this... years! I've had a history with mono, first time I had it Dr said it was worst case she'd ever seen. Out of school for over a month the kept note on file for 6 months after allowing me to go home half day if I was too tired. I proceed to be tested positive for mono at least 6 more times. I finally stopped going to the doctor because it did no good. High levels of stress seem bring on my flu like symptoms and or make them worse and this was the case with my mono. Anybody have a history with mono/ epstein bar? Chronic fatigue?

Hello, I am 48 as well and every other month a few days before I get my period I get flu like symptoms and feel totally drained. I am in bed typing this to you. I am a Pilates Studio owner and workout about 13 times a week just to keep my immune system up, I take multi vitamins and iron and goji berries and you name it and it still happens. I have my ovaries heavily monitored with my gyn and still no answers as to why this happens to me.

Just in case you ladies don't know, you could have endometriosis even if your ob/gyn sees nothing on an ultrasound. They will not see it on an ultrasound unless it gets inside one of your organs (for example, your ovaries). If it's in your pelvic cavity causing problems, they will not see it unless they actually do an "investigative surgery." They have to make small incisions and look around inside your pelvic cavity to see endometriosis. Also, if you have a terrible case of it, some doctors will not be able to remove it all, or even most of it. You need a specialist if it gets into your organs or attaches itself to something like your bowels. I know because I went through this. If you are in terrible pain every month, have heavy bleeding, have pain with intercourse, have other flu like symptoms with your period, you may have a severe case of endometriosis without knowing it. It was not until the stuff got into my ovaries that my ob/gyn sent me to have surgery. It will not get better without surgery, though you can eat an anti-inflammatory diet to help symptoms. Second bit of advice, if you are having all this pain, and all these flu-like symptoms, you might have a serious case of PMS. Though this is put aside by many, it is seriously debilitating for some of us. You might be greatly helped by some progesterone support during your luteal phase. Your doctor can test you to see if you are low in progesterone. They need to test you during your luteal phase though. A doctor that understands the use of NaPro technology will better understand when to test you. Women's cycles are as unique as each woman. Our cycles must be monitored in order to understand what phase we are in. If any of you are interested in better understanding your cycle and where you are, google Creighton model, and see about taking classes to learn how to monitor your cycle so that you can take better care of your reproductive health.

You are 38 and you weigh 100lbs. That's your problem. The less you weigh the worse your immune system is.

OMG I know what you mean. I am going through it right now. Yesterday afternoon, I started getting ANOTHER migraine and just felt COMPLETELY drained and I HURT, EVERYWHERE. My period arrived around 3 am this morning and is actually a few days early.. I've been getting sick with periods for about ten years but, I'm 47 now and it's getting REALLY bad. Not sure if it's peri-menopause but the mood swings, and horrible headaches and body aches, etc, stuffy nose, all keep getting worse. This is downright depressing. Even after my period is gone, I still feel like c**p most of the month. Something isn't right and no doctor out there seems to even CARE enough to investigate or give me an answer of any kind. I was infected with Parvo Virus and "some type of Epstein-Barre" virus back in 2005 which WREAKED HAVOC on my immune system--especially during my cycles, yet, all the stupid doctor could say was that "you probably have CFS but I've never seen anyone with it so , you're going to have to do some research and let me know what you find out and I will do some research and call you --but she never did. WTF DO WE PAY THESE IDIOTS FOR???? Best thing I found is EAT HONEY FROM THE AREA WHERE YOU GREW UP---ORGANIC , LOCAL HONEY!! Take Airborne and multi-vitamins, and GET LOTS OF REST. There really is no medicine that works and the doctors don't care. Just wish I could get some help after all these years.

Hi - I just wondered if you are any further forward with a diagnoses or help for this condition. I am 33 years old and this is exactly what has been happening to me for the past 8 months. I have 2 small children and I have had to give up work. Life is hardly managable. I'm so sorry you have to suffer this but if you have any advice i'd be hugely grateful as we are in the dark x

Hey dont know if your still having problems but i kid you not do some research on garlic. I tried chopping up a clove and drinking some gatorade with it when i had an infected wisdom tooth. It worked better for me than the antibiotic the dentist perscribed! It is a powerful antibiotic/ antiviral/ antifungal do some research on its health benefits and give it a try. Hope this helps!

Hello all. I had the same symptoms every month. I would a get flu like illness. I had the doctor's check everything hormones, anemia etc
Every Christmas I would be ill as well... now here is the interesting part, I got on a plane this Christmas to go to Mexico with the full flu taken hold. I felt rubbish..
36 hours later symptoms gone...why?

Vitamin D as I sat quietly in the sun. Our bodies get less proficient absorbing as we get older. I have since taken vit D every day for 9 months and no more flu.... periods still a little heavy but it is amazing. Please try. It is only vit D...

Look up Vitamin D deficiency and PMS. I had blood work that showed I was deficient in Vitamin D and there is a lot of research that links Vitamin D deficiency with PMS symptoms. Vitamin D deficiency is common. I just started taking a vitamin D supplement and will let everyone know how it works, as I am suffering all the same symptoms. I feel like I have the flu or some kind of virus every month. I can't even get out of bed.
