I just found your reply. I expect the "wavelength" they mentioned would be what I know as color temperature. A fluorescent lamp also has an on/off component to the light. Usually thought of as 60 cycles but the lamp would not care about the polarity of the voltage applied to it. The voltage goes through zero twice in a single cycle making the lamp go on/off 120 times a second on 60 cycle current. An LED is sensitive to the polarity so it would only go on 60 times in a second.
I met a server at a retirement party once who asked us to let her know when we were going to use a flash camera because the flash would disorient her and eventually give her a headache. She said she also couldn't work under fluorescent lighting for the same reason.

Hi Caroline, yes Tv's, monitors, tablets even just a glimpe of my wife's phone hurts like mad. I'm not as bad with lcd tv but led tv's are a no. Nobody apart from my wife believe me, doctors are horrible disbelieving my severe symptoms.
I feel so sorry for you because I know what pain you are in.
I'm 100% certain I've got fibromyalgia and M.E due to being violently ill with viral infection swine flu and thyroid went haywire.
I have to wear the darkest glasses if going for a short time where there is lights. Nearly had a heart attack on a visit to hospital with low fluorescent lighting?
I'm not photophobic as sunshine or incandescent light don't bother me?
Also I struggle talking..the right words don't come out .... I used to be a top salesman, really could talk the talk now I struggle with a sentence.
Burning skin feels like I've holidayed for weeks without any suntan lotion?
Do you have any similar symptoms?
Not sure how you want me to contact you?
Kind regards Stephen

When I sit under flourescent lights my face gets red and burns. I would have to leave the classroom to rinse my face with cold water.
I have subacute cutaneous lupus erythmetosis and I burn in a 5 minute period. Right now my skin is bright red and has a tingly itchy burn. Everywhere I go I get burned. I don’t know what the answer is but I’m up for any info or suggestions.

Artificial lighting like LED and fluorescent lights are like kryptonite to me. I get a red rash on my face and neck, lose all my energy, develop a migraine and have even had hallucinations.
What doctor can help me? I FEEL LIKE IM GOING CRAZY!

Agreed! You are 100% correct@ building a life around avoiding bad lights.

I have the spiral type of fluorescent lights in my living room. After a while I seem to get fuzziness & pains in my head. Does research indicate that the lights may be the cause?
I have started working in an office setting with fluorescent lighting and experienced burning eyes, chills, and high blood pressure. Is it the lights? I have had cataract surgery 2 years ago.
