Almost always after eating raw apples, I get bad gas pains in my back right between the shoulder blades. I was told that I probably am allergic to the pectin in the skin. But recently I removed the skin and got the same reaction. Applesauce and apple pie doesn't bother me at all. I get the same reaction from pears. What are your suggestions?
You're probably allergic to a certain enzyme found in both apples and pears. They're similar in taste and texture and because of this, they may share a lot of enzymes. When you cook food, however, it kills the enzymes.
I have adverse reactions to apples uncooked apples apple juice etc. namely a tightening of the tendons in my neck and shoulders. I have had to just eliminate them from my diet. Note: Surprisingly almost ALL juices and juice drinks use apple juice as a primary filler and only then flavor the drink with other fruits and flavors.
