I suffer from gallbladder cancer. I am going to have operation soon. I don’t know yet how they are going to perform the procedure. I guess they’ll explain me. I am not scared, I am just tired of hospitals and pain and I want to end with this. I was wondering what types of gallbladder operations exist?
There are a number of possible operations used to try to remove gallbladder cancer. Some of these operations are extremely major surgery and they are all done under general anesthesia. You will be asleep for the entire operation but how much and what is removed will depend on where the cancer is in the gallbladder and how far it has spread outside your gallbladder. The types of operations that you may have are simple cholecystectomy, extended cholecystectomy and radical gallbladder resection.
