Hi all

I quit smoking last June after 42 years of smoking since I was 9. To be honest it was a piece of cake, the easiest thing I have ever done. I did it on the spur of the moment and went cold turkey.  My chest did make rumbling noises as I breathe but I never really got short of breathe. My chest cleared up after about a month. But now 8 months after, I cant do much without out getting out of breathe. I cant walk up small slopes, even bending down to tie my shoe laces makes me gasp for breathe. My doctor sent me for a chest X -ray and that came back clear. Also I cough up a brown coloured spit in the mornings. Is this really caused from quitting smoking?

Many Thanks

I forgot to say, I have been getting short of breathe since last October
