lol not being able to drive a car after a meal? I bet you voted for Obama too. Every person on earth feels sleepy after any meal. The only smart people on earth are the Mexicans who take a siesta after a meal.

To Cobetty, very interesting that you said that, I'm having the same symptom you are. I have more energy if I don't eat at all during the day. And as soon as I do, it doesn't matter what I eat either, Im literally done for the day. I will take a 3 hour nap around 2 and then go back to bed at 8. It's gotten to the point where I'm afraid to eat if I have a lot to do in that day. Maybe I will check out my liver. Thanks

I become very sleepy about 10-15 minutes after eating. I actually fall asleep by the dining table or on the sofa in the great room. It doesn't what ate, I always get very sleepy, I will dose off for about 3-10 minutes, like cat napping. I'm a little person/dwarf 3'3" 88 pounds. Do exercise regularly, however I'm through much stress due to economic struggles. Also I have many family issues as well. I've been getting to bed around 5:30 a.m., that is of course when most people get up to start their day.

Or maybe it means its healthy to not eat heavy meals so you don't feel tired.

This could be an allergy to gluten called celiac disease or other allergy. If you are not eating healthy meals this can cause it as well as waiting to long between meals(your blood sugar drops) BUT then when you eat it spikes then you feel tired after this point. Eat smaller meals closer together to keep blood sugar balanced.

my dad did some research on him self and found out that soy milk is very bad for your thyroid gland. I would like to say to all of you that you need to have your doctor to do a full thyroid panel test most doctors will not do that doing that test only using part of a test and saying that you are normal make sure you tell them that you wont a full thyroid panel test done hope this help

I know exactly what you are feeling. I get really tired after I eat anything. I make myself get up and do the dishes, run around with my son, etc.. in hope that the little meal I had just eaten will digest before I lay down and take a nap when he does.

I have your same exact symptoms. I have also wondered about sodium and particularly, MSG (monosodium glutamate) as it seems to bring on blood sugar issues and migraine

This has been happening with me off and on for about a year.  It happened today after lunch.  I ate a half sandwich and a few potato chips.  The sandwich was made with Oatnut bread (1 slice); 2 slices of roast beef (cold cut); 1 slice of swiss cheese, and a pickle.  About 20 min. after I ate, I felt my body change.  I felt like numb/tingly, and suddenly became intensely sleepy.  I couldn't stay awake.  I went to bed and slept for about 4 hours.  This has happened to me before.  It's always about 20 min. after I eat, which makes me think its when something is getting into my bloodstream.  I'm amazed at the effect of sleepiness and that I sleep for about 4 hours...deep sleep for 4 hours.  Any ideas?  My cousin said she thinks it's an allergy to something, but I've noticed that it happens with different foods.  I can't pinpoint the culprit

hormones & exercise, or be at work (where most people have to stay up) and have green tea after lunch. glutamine, chromium & dhea supplements help me. if you get away from the house for lunch, you kind of have to stay going. I speak from my experience. Hormones could definitely be making this worse so try dhea for sure, and maybe dmae and a good whole food multi vitamin w/lots of B12 &B6.
