The foods you list as "moldy" are not, unless specific cheeses such as blue or roquefort are indicated. Mushrooms are fungi. Soy and vinegar are fermented.

Fermented foods are good for the gut. (Think sauerkraut, kimchi, pickled stuff.) Foods containing probiotics are good for the gut. (Yoghurt, kefir.)

A healthy gut with all the good bacteria in it assisting digestion has a positive effect on the brain and mental state.

Sugars and too many carbs are going to play havoc with blood sugar levels. Zzzz. Blood flow is redirected to assist in digestion after eating. Zzzz. Our bodies' natural time clocks are set for a period of drowsiness in the afternoon. Zzzz.

Smaller, more frequent meals and snacks including a little quality protien may be helpful in maintaining more consistent energy levels throughout the day. Don't forget to stay well hydrated!

If you can get out after lunch or for afternoon break for a little walk and fresh air and change of scenery it may provide a pick up.

Unfortunately, our modern lifestyle is out of sync with our natural rhythms. There is a reason some countries have (or had) the custom of an afternoon siesta! There is a reason you got to have an afternoon nap in kindergarten!

Prescription drugs have lots of side effects. Please consider that the statin drug you are taking is causing this sleepiness after lunch.

Moldy foods?? Please explain how any of the foods you listed are grouped into this category ( with the exception of a few cheeses) mold will seldom grow in mushrooms, if you see white on it ilis its own mycelium and not mold , vinigar is made with a symbiotic bacterial year and mold will not survive in the low ph environment. And soy sauce is fermented not with mold . I suggest doing a little more research before posting advice , you clearly have limited understanding of the food you are eating and how it's produced.

I have noticed this also. If I am playing tennis that day or playing in a tennis tournament on the weekend. I do not get sleepy after eating. And I don’t eat as much.
I will admit I am not the healthiest eater. And when I haven’t exercised (which my main exercising is tennis) when I eat I become extremely lethargic and tired and succumb to going to sleep. It may be 5pm but I fall asleep and I just can’t get the energy to really do anything but fall back to sleep.
I have noticed that fasting helps. So if I am planning a drive somewhere (that is longer than 2 hours, I just water fast - no food at all)
It is the only guarantee that I will not get sleepy behind the wheel. Because i use to get tired when driving to work or to pick up my child from school and it scared the heck out of me

I can eat a carnivore meal and still get EDS. I am diabetic and it doesn't matter if my BG is normal or high. If I take too much insulin, and it goes low, that will wake me up.

I fell asleep after eating. This never used to happen to me, but, for the last six months this has been going on and it seems to be getting worse. What does that mean?
