You're right, it's not normal. I'm a runner so get plenty of exercise but developed this problem. I did not have it previously. I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy, but I also had a very severe depletion of Magnesium. Now that I'm getting more Magnesium (and I take other minerals and vitamins - if I'm low on one thing I might as well make sure I'm okay in everything else) I'm getting better. I thought it was a little strange how it's worse after I eat. I eat salads, smoothies, health food stuff. Food really seems to trigger it. If you haven't felt the fatigue from a Narcoleptic after eating episode you shouldn't respond to this because you don't know how bad it is. You can't drive, you can't think, sometimes I'm too fatigued to watch tv or do anything at all. Makes me skip meals. Also take MSM and CoQ10+, both help me a lot, but I still have some fatigue. I'm not well yet.

Digestive Enzymes and probiotics have helped ease my tiredness after eating. Worth a try if some of you havent had luck with anything else yet. Also, cutting out gluten, dairy, sugar and processed food helps too. I try not to eat white foods as well (white rice, potatoes etc).

I like your response but can you share more on your research. I agree and I dont feel tired after eating a good healthy meal as to eating pancakes with fresh maple syrup. I have noticed in my system that sugar reacts differently, like some people eat a snickers candy bar for energy and all it does to me is make me tired. A gal I worked with even checked my sugar with her blood monitor before I ate a candy bar as I was so darn tired, I ate a candy bar and after about 20min she took my blood again to find that my blood dropped, it was 86 dropped to 70 after eating the candy bar. Interested in why this happens

This is exactly what happens to me. It is uncontrollable sleep, it comes on sudden and usually after eating. I also get full days where I can not function and just need to sleep all day. My wife thinks I'm lazy and thinks I have a choice in the matter. It is very difficult for people to understand. Some of the things I believe it may be: Sleep Apnea, Narcolepsy, Diabetes and/or Blood Sugar Spikes, Autoimmune, Brain chemistry issues from trauma and/or past drug use, toxin reaction and or reaction to environmental toxin such as mold or other substance. Any insight is helpful!!!

I have the same problem and have for many years. I have been to dr after dr, tried one diet after the other, but have never gotten an answer. it is obviously food related because it happens to me only after food. Cutting out all sugary drinks and fruit has made it much better, but I sometimes get it from fat as well. I have looked into enzyme deficiencies but have found nothing. When it happens zi feel like I have to go to sleep immediately or I will die. I'm then never in a true sleep, but am sort of awake. for some reason when Inwake up I crave lettuce, which make me feel much better. My father is 91 and says he used to have to pull the car over to the side of the road and sleep, just after getting up in the morning...so I have also been looking into hereditary factors. I don't know what this is, but. I've had it since I was about 5. I have been tested for diabetes, hypoglycemia, and every other thing imaginable, including lupus. My feeling is it must be some enzyme or chemical deficiency. Try cutting fruit, juice, snapple, soda, frosting, and anything high carb out if your diet for a money hand see what happens. I'd be interested to know.

I am eating clean. For instance, just had a homemade kale and bean soup. Cup and a half. As soon as lunch is over I am falling asleep at work. Not just a little tired. Afraid I will lose me job. What is this?

I sometimes find that I have the same problem too. I have no knowledge of the blood sugar in the body. I have seen many people with the same problem too. I found that there was a lack of air breathing into the body that csuses this drowsiness. I have told everyone that I had notice yawning to use a finger and block one nostril and feel if there is a free flow of air into the nostril and repeat  the same on the other side. Everyone said that there is at least one side of the nostril that is not free flow.  It is similar to someone who is snoring ......lack of oxygen.

I wondered sometimes if it has anything to do with warm or hot food and if it closes the nostril.

I know for some people dry air makes it difficult for them to breathe. Just my opinion.
