However, I gave in yesterday and had one because I really do LOVE them, and suffered all night as a result! Not so smart ;-)

feel your pain, I always explained to people that though I liked bananas, they didn't like me. For years, they caused queeziness, but one night I gave in and this time it felt like my stomach lining was being ripped off like Wallpaper, excruciating pain. Someone responded to my post, asking if avacado or cantelope bothered me, OMG, YES! Then they questioned latex allergy but so far, so good, no issue with latex....yet!

This is an amazing forum I have a true story for this which happened just last Friday Well we finished work at 4PM so me and my colleague thought we'd go to Manchester Arndale for a spot of shopping and also to go to Aldi to buy some bananas. We went to Aldi and bought a whole bunch of bananas and ate them within minutes so we had a bit of a stomach ache so we decided to go to CeX. We were in cex just looking around and we were approached by a man asking if we would like to buy a Samsung Galaxy S3 for £120. We thought this was stolen and we thought it was a bit dojy so we refused. But then my colleague said its a good idea we should buy it and split the cost of it. We saw the phone in cex for £455 so we thought we were getting a bargain here plus we were drunk on bananas so we approached the man and said we would buy it and just go the cash machine now he said Ok So we went to the cash machine and took out £60 each and handed the cash to the man and he gave us the phone and said put it in your pocket because people were walking about. So we put it in our pocket and watched the man suddenly vanish. We walked round the corner and attempted to switch the phone on but the power button was just solid and wasn't pressing, at this point mine and my colleagues hearts were beating at the speed of light. None of the buttons were actually buttons and we realized he had swapped the phones in his pocket and given us a dummy phone. We were both very very mad and didn't think to approach the man again because he didn't look like the type you would want to confront. I took the phone and smashed it on the floor with anger and everyone looked at us. So we were very angry and we went to McDonalds in Victoria station and ordered a large fries and large coke with ketchup and ate that. After that we felt a lot better and just laughed it off and then we wanted to see the man and thank him for scamming us and doing what he did as he taught us a lesson in fact by this point I realized this was actually the best day of my life. So if you are approached by anyone selling a phone and you decide to buy it don't worry about it being stolen worry about it being a dummy.

stomach pain from bananas is because they are difficult to digest for some people because they lack a certain enzyme that breaks the food down. Google search "Digestive Enzymes" and you will find that you can purchase digestive pills from GNC, VitaminShoppe, or online. This WILL help.

I've never been able to nail down the exact cause of my stomach aches/cramps/gas when eating raw foods such as bananas. My diet has gotten more restricted since my teens (I'm 27 now). I have had almost every kind of raw food bother me at some point, so I try to avoid the major culprits and thoroughly steam/cook the rest. I eat lot's of protein and healthy fats with any sensitizing foods and I'm usually ok. I try to rotate things so I get better nutrition. I'm currently looking into the Paleo and FODmap diets to see if they might give me some relief.
Some Helpful tips that work for me:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to aid in digestion.
Keep stress levels down (take some deep breaths throughout the day and fix your slouching posture)
When in doubt - cook bothersome foods thoroughly - or avoid it altogether.
To relieve my stomach aches, I chew gum and alternate between drinking water and warm green tea. Go somewhere quiet and breathe calmly. The earlier you treat it the better. Over the years, this has saved me some time and intense pain.
For reference, some of my main diet "no-no's" include:
raw bananas, raw avacado, raw pineapple, raw kiwi, raw beets, raw onions, raw broccoli, peanuts, lactose, and lately, raw ginger. meh... tummy troubles suck!
