I have this too, although only on my scalp, not on my face. It happens when I hear a particular voice, usually on the phone with customer service or something random. other times it could be a shoulder massage or even a nudge that could cause it. It doesnt last too long and slowly fades away in small waves. sounds extremely odd but I actually like it. ;-)

I too get this and have ever since I was a kid. Gentle voices or motions trigger it. It's always a pleasent sensation and I tried googling about it today and this forum is all I found... haha guess we are special :-)

This happens to me when I am listening to a story, but not every story, I tend to get it when listening to someone older talk. I really like it when it happens. There was one particular day that I was able to replicate the feeling on my own and I loved it. I am so weird. :-) Nice to know there are other weirdos, but apparently there aren't alot of us since there is so little about it.

Iv had this happen to me before plenty of times but never thought anything of it, but it just happened to me about 3 min ago and I happened to be at my computer so I started looking for stuff about this. I found some interesting stuff although the info I found was not specific to the left side of the head it did mention the left side of the body. It said some stuff about how they might be mild seizures caused by epilepsy strangely enough. Other than finding a quick blurb about it maybe being a mild seizure I didn't find anything else about it sadly.

I have also had this since I was a kid. Mostly gentle voices or relaxing movements trigger the sensation. I've never understood what it was - I also thought it was goosebumps on my head but recently I've been trying to figure out why it happens.
My first day in 4th grade - my teacher had a very soft and relaxing voice. The sensation lasted almost all day. I thought everyone had this as well and never thought about it.
I get it now mostly when I watch Tea Ceremony videos on youtube (odd I know) but they are relaxing.
I would really like to know the medical term or reason for this.

OMG i have this too and i've been looking to learn something about it but i've had no luck. It happens with some voices but with other sounds too. One day i stumbled upon this video , i don't remember why, but the sound gives me that feeling and relaxes me almost to the point of falling asleep. If you have any other sounds that give you that feeling, please post them because it's a very pleasing sensation.

I have this, too, and I found out it is an absence seizure. I don't think it's really.. Bad, but it is something to tell your doctor about. Hope I helped.

Wow!
This is so weird. I have the exact same thing. Most of the time I get it when I'm watching someone making something with his hands for example folding a paper airplane and I think it's the sound of the paper that's triggering the 'goosebumps'. Then i'm overcome eith a feeling of relaxation.
Other fun fact, someone above me said he/she got it when watching Tea Ceremony video's on YouTube, so I checked it out and I got it too!

I also get the sensation too - I would describe it as a very euphoric relaxing sensation experienced in waves, the feeling is centered in the head, but I've felt it in my spine as well, clearly there are external events that trigger the brain to release a chemical (Dopamine?).
My triggers are like the ones above: a relaxing, soothing , articulate voice as well as massages/scratching and perhaps the strangest but delivers the biggest "kick" watching or hearing somebody cleaning. I don't feel this way if I clean, only someone else. I used to purposely eat my cereal in the morning right as the cleaning women (she came every other week) was cleaning around the kitchen. I would delay as much as possible to feel this pleasurable relaxing feeling.
I feel sorry for those who never experience these feelings, they are true treasures of being alive.

Interesting phenomenon, feels like waves of goosebumps passsing over the scalp. I get this sensation when (i) listening to someone like a mature Italian person (with accent) talking softly and slowly in a quiet room, (ii) someone tapping away at a key board or mobile phone in a quiet room or flicking through pages of a book. I can contribute something in understanding of the phenomenon in that once when I was about 14, someone gave me ephedrine and it felt like my hair was standing on end and very similar sensation so it would be reasonable to suspect indeed dopamine release may underly the physiology of the sensation. Strangely, I also get the sensation when watching someone getting a haircut or even perhaps sounds of a carpenter sanding and tapping away; agreed it is quite a pleasurable sensation and similarly glad to hear other people get it too since not many people I have personally asked knows what I'm talking about. Perhaps a functional MRI may assist in understanding the phenomenon; there is a fellow named Jack Pettigrew at the University of Queensland psychology department whom I think would be quite interested in hearing of this phenomenon. Thanks for the post.
