I too get this sensation. I thought it was something that happened to everybody until I recently explained it to a friend and she had no idea what I was talking about. I have also had this happen since I was a kid. It's generally triggered by soft voices or people watching. Also by watching people do tasks? When I was little I loved watching painting and cooking shows because of it and now I like to watch hair and makeup tutorials!

I too, occasionally, get a tingling/goosebumps sensation in waves on the left side of my scalp, but I do not like it and it is, therefore, not relaxing or pleasurable for me.  It's not painful, but it is worrisome because I start to think I have some dreaded disease.  I don't like weird stuff happening to me, that's why I don't find this pleasurable.  I do not know what triggers it; but during this evening's occurrence, I  was simply watching TV-which I do every night, so I have no idea what triggers it!  I am in the midst of menopause, and so maybe that has something to do with it, for me.  Maybe my doctor will have some answers.  Anyway, like others here, it is comforting to know that I am not alone with this!  If I learn anything about it, in my particular case, I will try to post it here.

ASMR! I think that's it!

Dude you're completely right! This ASMR is an exact description of what I've felt since I was little! I can't thank you enough for finding this out because I have always wanted to know what the weird sensations were called. You are awesome man!

I too do this & always have. One day it'll be my left side of brain. Few days later my right side of brain. My sister & several cousins & aunts have one of the severest forms of epilepsy, they suffer every known seizure out there. As well as my dads side having Parkinson's.

I get those sensations too. Waves of energy lightly flow over my scalp. Sometimes the hairs on the back of my head above my spine will vibrate gently. Sometimes I can feel the hairs on my arms stand up too. But the sensation is mostly on my scalp. It is very pleasurable and relaxing. I get them when least expected like when I see someone's fingers on something that belongs to me. Or a quiet room with a female voice will trigger it. It doesn't matter how good looking the person is or how sexually appealing they may or may not be. It is not in any way sexual and holds no romantic attraction and it is not an excited pleasure you might get from a dopeimien (sp) release or adrenaline release. It is often triggered by females near me or in videos talking softly. Sometime a man will cause it if he is doing something soft, like silently flipping though a book that belongs to me. I really enjoy the sensation and I can conger it up again and again, hours after the initial sensation, if my mind's eye replays the action that triggered the sensation. I try to get the most I can from it by replaying the action in my memory, because it feels good and I know deep down it has positive health benefits (like meditation or acupuncture might give). I figured out a long time ago not all people experience this because I never hear anyone talking about it.  I decided to do a search because a coworker was taking to me in the office today and it triggered the sensation.

Just goosebumps; intense ones. Temperature changes, massage, enjoying music, good conversation, lengthy urination, fornication, etc.

I love this feeling (if I'm identifying with the same sensation).  I liken it to a mystical experience, and feel it whenever I am truly in awe of something (whether it be the Glory of God, a particular song, or some personal realization).

Funny how those of us who experience this sensation found this. Of course, if you haven't, why would you look for it? LOL. I have experienced this for years, much in the same way as I see on some other posts. Like the one about making a paper airplane, I experience this when I watch the kids I care for working on small projects. It is such a weird and yet extremely relaxing feeling. I could practically fall asleep. I strangely related it to a cat.....have you ever seen a cat when it smells something and it just sits there, trance-like with its mouth slightly open? But, yeah, it happens to me and it is very relaxing. I'll have to check out the Tea thingy on youtube. :)

That is bizarre - I googled this today as I got the exact same thing whilst talking to someone on the phone. I've also had it since I was little (i have a twin who gets the same thing too!), and it's taken me 31 years to bother to find out what it was. It's a very relaxed, trance-like feeling, always for me triggered by somebody talking, and it gives me goosebumps in my scalp and i start to feel kind of sleepy. More strangely, for me it's often entirely unexpected, and I can't identify ANYTHING relaxing about the way that person is talking. For instance today, the person I spoke to on the phone stuttered and stumbled, ummed and aahed. She did not have a soothing voice *at all*, and yet within minutes I was in my own little trance-like state, wanting her to carry on talking for as long as possible. And similarly to other posters - i can recapture the feeling by reimagining what triggered it in the first place. So strange!

I just went on the Internet to ask about brainfreeze or. a goosebumps like feeling on the brain because I get it too. I get it in one spot. On the right side. Its weird. I don't notice me getting it from voices or noises. It just comes. I also get a thump thump thump in my ears by certain voices. I think its the heightened vibration or like when a t.v. gets turners on I hear the high frequencys.

I went to depression and after medication, while time passed while getting better. I get it all over face, scalp, chest and arms. Sometimes it last some time, but only when I am emotionally in tune when I am hearing someting moving and inspirational. Its music that often triggers it. I like it, but sometimes it can be overwhelming, but not something I can't handle.

I get it too and was looking it up and ended up here. to me it feels like goosebumps on my brain, not my scalp. sometimes its just above my left ear. just a few minutes ago it travelled from behind my right ear up to the center of my brain. it's pleasurable, but as many people it's kind of worrysome seeing that it happens in your brain and nobody else I know has them. I'm glad I came to this website though haha. I don't really have specific triggers though, it just happens out of the blue
