I've had a swollen gland on only one side of my neck. It feels like some growth in the lover part of throat. When I get a cold throat it gets bigger and sore, but it never goes back to normal. Is this a gland or something else? I am afraid that it might be cancerous.
Well, it is possible to have a swollen gland that never seems to go away, and that enlarges during colds or throat infections. Those are lymph nodes that can be located in the front or back of the neck as well as other places in your body. Post-infectious lymph nodes may last for several months. They gradually get smaller, but occasionally due to scar tissue they remain large enough to feel for years. Cysts are also common and sometimes may collect calcium and become hard, lipoma occurs on the neck, but should be soft. Anyway anything that feels like a growth in lower throat should be checked out by your doctor.
