Sounds like tonsil stones. It usually feels like a lump or hair in your throat and may even move around. Look in the crevices in the back of your throat for small white balls, that's what they look like. If you have bad breath and a history of infections and sinus drainage, you can be sure that's it.

I know this is old but I have been experiencing this for 3 weeks and I finally got relief last night. I had been using the same concoction of salt water gargling, honey, warm water, gibger tea, allergy medicine, Tessalon Perles, cough drops, Flonase, Robitussin, Mucinex, and multiple doctor visits to which they could not explain what was wrong and suggested it was GERD.
Last night, I doubled my dose of Tesalon Perles, gargled vigorously with salt water, took my allergy medicine, a Nexium (for the possible GERD) and added in a humidifier to my room. Boom! Best sleep I've gotten in 3 weeks.
I'm not sure what solved the problem. Nexium takes 1-4 days to start working. It may have been the extra Benzonatate (Perles) or it may have been the humidifier. I feel so good having slept though. I hope this can offer you guys the same relief!

Yeah I quit smoking for 4 years, started back up. Had strep throat, took a Z pack...then a few weeks later had the feeling of hair or something in the back of my tongue/throat. Can't find anything that fixes this problem. I quit smoking and still have the feeling.
