LOL, don't think I am crazy or OCD or anything like that but I had two home test kits to try and of course, the lab that I have to get my HbA1c done.  The lab values on all of them was all screwy.  It was the first test, A1cNow that was giving me a result of 6.7... not great.  Then my second test was the Glucomen A1c.  It gave me back a result of 5.9.  This was within a half hour or so from one another.  Next I had my lab work done a couple of days later and I thought well, it will be between 5.9 and 6.7 for the result. The lab A1c result was 5.2%... really.... so I think it was a total waste of money to get these home kits .. they are way off base so what is the point in using them?  There shouldn't be that much of a difference, right???

You are concerned that your lab values are different.  The home kits are not too reliable from the sound of it. I have seen these sold at the local pharmacy and I was thinking of getting one. I don’t know if I will now that you said that they are so off the mark.  I hope that maybe you can get your money back for the ones you bought.  I am unsure about why the two meters would be so off in their values.  You might want to get a hold of the manufacturers of the meters and see if there is always such a deviation in the lab values as a norm.  You should do a little research on so other home meters if you are still interested in doing it at home. I would just go by the lab value at your doctor’s office and save your money.
