I work at a fence company and where I work, I load pipes all day. We were needing to get a few short pipes off our ramp 'cause the next set was much longer, and an id**t coworker jumps between my partner and I and picks up the last few but he hit me in the middle of my chest with one. It hurt, but I didn't think anything of it. That was about a week and a half ago. My sternum started hurting yesterday afternoon, and its already to the point where I can't sleep. Also, it has me feeling nauseous. Any thoughts?
Hi Josh,
See your doctor.
While unlikely, there is the possibility that the pipe caused some bleeding in the sac, the pericardium, that your heart rests in. This can cause chest pain and nausea - it can mimic a heart attack.
There may also be some bleeding in the lungs causing pleurisy.
You really do need to see the doctor just to rule these out. Both can have VERY serious complications.
Good luck.
