Recently I've been getting severe headaches at the beginning of stimulation, touching, and erection. Sometimes if I'm lying down it's better. The headaches are extreme and painful. Does anyone have experience with this?
Hi there!
Since this is happening regularly, you need to see a doctor. There is a term coital headache. It is a headache that occurs before or during orgasm, and may last for a few minutes to a few hours after sex.
They present no other acute threat, they are benign although they tend to hurt a lot. They are thought to result from muscle contraction, and/or blood vessel dilation, in the head and neck during sex.
There is also another kind of sex headache. The other one is considered dangerous and an emergency but I don't think this is the case since you've had this happening for a while.
The dangerous type is a first time headache and is usually felt as the worst headache of thelife. This type of sex headache is a serious emergency and often due to an acute brain hemorrhage or other serious condition.
Once a brain bleed has been ruled out, benign sex headaches can be relatively easy to treat. You could try abstaining from sex for some time and see if this works. If not, your doc may get you a medicine to take before an intercourse to prevent the headache.
Sometimes these headaches resolve on their own.
