I am a 35 years old. I have had low back pain for quite a while. My pain is the most severe when I try to get from a sitting to a standing position. Once I am up straight, I am fine. But, on some really bad days, I have pain no matter what position I’m in. I had an MRI 1 year ago that showed mild degenerative facet arthropathy with small disc protrusion. I tried Motrin, Celebrex and deep tissue massage – no help. Then I went to a spine doctor who tried Flexoril, Medrol, Lidoderm, and Topamax – still nothing. I also had injections into the facets to numb the nerves and relieve the pain - this also did not work. So, finally, I think that benign hemangioma is a possibility but the T1 signal characteristics do not confirm it. What test do I need to check weather my assumptions are correct? Who should I see? Can my hemangiomas cause this pain?
I don’t think that hemangiomas is the cause. From what I know Hemangiomas of the spine should not cause pain. What I would recommend is for you to have an opinion at a large academic spine center. They will be able to examine you, review the films, and make further diagnostic and treatment recommendations. I wish I could be of more help, but I can not make any other recommendations. Good luck.
