I recently had a very hard stool. A few days later 3-4 I noticed my anus to be itching much more than normal. So I chekced it out and it looks like a thrombosed hemroid. I'm not totally sure, but it itched, and look like one. After doing 3 days of research, I've read alot about surgery and other treatments, many being topical ointments which I don't have time for, nor time for "sitz" baths whatever they are... (what the hell is sitz? haha). Also pills, which anybody has tme for pills, but with further searching, I've found this:
"Thrombosed external hemorrhoids will resolve in four-to-six weeks as the blood clot is re-absorbed by the body. They are generally most tender in the first four days. If the thrombosis is quite painful and has been present for less than 4 days, then surgical excision (removal) is the best treatment. If the thrombosis has been present for more than four days, and is beginning to resolve, it is generally better to leave it alone."
Like I said, no to VERY little pain (more like very slight discomfort, not pain) and itching. So surgery is a little out of the question I'd say. It's only been noticable for maybe 2-3 days, not nessacerly getting better, but not getting worse. Giving it 4-6 weeks to resolve is ok with me, but I fear it may worsen in that time. It has little signs of worsening, but who knows.
Should I give it a few days? Like I said, no time for oinments, pills are expensive, the doctor is not only expensive, but ambarassing. I understand, it's a doctors job, and I'm sure a minor hemroid isn't the worse they've seen :-P

I forgot to mention, I have since then had two normal bowel movments with no pain or bledding at all, yet itching afterward. Other than the itching, and knowing that it's there (which is a big deal to me), I am not at all bothered by it.........
I am curious as to whether or not it has gotten better. I went to a doctor who said mine was about to ulcer, so he snipped it, and removed the clot then sewed it up. I looked at the clot afterwards and it was the size of my pinky nail, really big. Anyway, I had felt some relief before going to the doctor from the epson salts baths. In fact, 100% improvement, but he cut anyway. Now, I can say, it hurts like hell and its been four days since the surgery. How is yours doing? Maybe I should have waited?
i recently had the surgery as well, how long does it take for the pain to go away?
would you please give everyone an update of how things turned out. how long did it last. was surgery a must, did you try creams. thanks
