Hip implants are made of metal alloys, high-grade plastics and polymeric materials.
Most hip implants are made of titanium or cobalt-chronium based alloys. Some are made of ceramic materials (aluminium oxide or zirconium oxide), others form ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, or a combination of polyethylene and metal.
