I just quit taking my doctor prescribed 90mg of morphine daily. My doctor prescribed me 8-16 mg of suboxone daily. After doing some reading about the drug I was scared to death of getting addicted to this stuff as my intent was to stop taking pain meds and learn to deal with my pain. I took approximately 1-2 mg for the first week and 1mg daily for the following two weeks, a total of 21 days on suboxone. I quit four days ago and am feeling worse and worse, I am in actual pain, my vomiting and diarea are still horrible. I just threw up the water I drank. My stomach feels like someone punched me in it, I cant sleep, and the leg and arm cramps are unbearable. Can anyone recomend anything that will help me get through this? Today I broke down and took about 3 mg of hydrocodone in hopes to make this bearable, it barely helped. Will this only prolong my agony? And can anyone tell me how long this detox really lasts, or at least the physically painfull part of it?
I have recently stopped suboxone and I think the key is a long gradual taper. If you stopped at 1mg, I imagine you feel horrible. I tapered down to less than .25mg for a period of a month then quit. I had some restlessness and minor stomach problems but nothing compared to oxycontin withdrawal.
My daughter quit cold turkey, but she had no choice as she was in jail!!
She wouldn't let anyone visit her for the first three weeks and i hardly got a phone call in that time. When she did call me, the conversation was 10 seconds long and she sounded bad. It took her a good 5 weeks to begin to sound like herself. I understand what your going thru. I know it's rough, but you will survive. Please don't apply a bandage to an already existing wound, let it heal on it's own, you will be so glad you did it on your own.
