Hello, I removed my bottom left wisdom tooth 3 days ago and I followed all that I was told but I just seem to be experiencing bad odor which makes my whole mouth taste bad and have bad breath. I've been rinsing with salt water and diluted mouthwash with water. Now I'm not experiencing that much pain its controllable by my meds which I'm glad but scared that the bad odor might mean I have an infection although without the unbearable pain and not being swollen, what could it mean? What can I do to get rid of the bad odor or at least control it?

I too have this horrible taste in my mouth that I just can't eat it taste like something died in my mouth. When I looked in the mirror I seen some white flesh I was scared but it's not oozing and it not yellow so i have high hopes that it's not infected. I'm just hoping this is part of the recovery process. I am also rinsing my mouth with warm salt water 2 times a day and then with regular water to clean out the socket but the that nasty taste has not gone away.

I agree that taste is horrible. It also smells terrible.... I had my right bottom and top pull 7 days ago. Went for checkup 5 days after. Dentist said everything looks great... I cant take the taste nor smell so I called my dentist office he said that is normal but if I am in pain come back in.

The bad smell is sometimes a natural smell produced during the healing process but more often than not it is because people are not rinsing their mouths with warm salt water often enough. Every hour or two is a good idea. The mouth rinses and pain killers/anti inflammatories are all you need to do. Im in the same position now with an extraction and pain to match. Its horrible but not forever i keep telling myself

Antibiotics like amoxicillin and penicillin can cause yeast infections. I found taking Acidophilus in conjunction with taking the antibiotics lowers the risk of yeast problems. You can find Acidophilus over the counter at you local pharmacy/supermarket.

The way you described the taste EXACTLY describes the taste AND smell of what I'm experiencing after having a failed implant extracted. I couldn't have said it better myself. Going to try more salt water rinses and hope I can eradicate what died.

I had too wisdom teeth pulled 6 days ago and have had the taste for a couple days already. It is disgusting. Mine has a nasty salty taste and makes my breath stink bad. I’ve gargled med mouthwash and salt water and it’s still here.
