I had my upper left molar pulled. I'm having that same sweet but in a bad way taste which is also making me nauseated. I called the dentist they are prescribing me an antibiotic but did say that discharge is part of the normal healing process. As long as you're not feeling a huge amount of pain you are ok.

Upper Molars are terrible. When they pulled mine, it breaxhed the sinus cavity and I ended up with negative pressure in my mouth and it suuuuckkkked! It goes away. Most of the time it is either a dry socket, or c**p stuck in the stitches

Antibiotics can cause yeast infections. They kill off the healthy bacteria, as well, which then allows the yeast to grow.

All of you are quite Incorrect.... I am experiencing the very same thing after having #14(Upper Left Molar) extracted last Thursday, by My Boss, whom is an Oral Surgeon in NJ... Dr.A. Madulhi.. I asked him today, and he explained it simple...its like having a scab on your leg, underneath the crust us yellowish goop( so to speak), its infection healing itself... Which will take about 2 weeks to go away.... It gets worst when I lay down, or bend over.... I freaked out because, I've never experienced anything like it before, and I've had all of my wisdom teeth removed. But, being in the dental profession, I know that Every tooth and every person us different... So to all if you who are reading this, just give it some time to go away... I am now taking Augmenten 875 mg, BC on top that smell, I've developed a Sinus infection(all connected)....Chloraheadine rinse will not help, but will stain your teeth if prolonged use...no salt water rinses or mouth wash either... Time, it just takes time.... I don't even want to kiss my husband, but he says he can not smell it....we all just have to be patient....I hope this will help anyone who is reading this post.....if you have any questions, plz feel free to ask me, if I can help or find out I will...

Ugh, so glad to come across this post. The taste in my mouth is absolutely vile. The pain I can deal with, but this horrible taste I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.
Squirted the syringe I was given into the socket at a pretty high pressure and out came a bit of gunk, which I hope resolves the issue.

Has anyone experienced a tear in the side of their mouth after their extraction? I could feel it tearing as the tooth was being removed. I asked my dentist if it was torn and she said - nope it's just a little red. Now, 2 days later, I have a tear - about a centimeter long, on the left side of my mouth. - This is much more painful then the extraction area - I look like the Joker only with a frown, as the cut goes downwards. I felt one of the tool rubbing on this area as well - while she was tugging at the tooth. This has created a very raw patch. - I had a great mouth prior to this. As for the smell - brushing my tongue with warm water did the trick :)

P.S. - I am a smoker who has not smoked since the extraction - however, I did try the patch so it would be easier not to smoke. Unfortunately I ended up passing out 2 times - about 3 hours after the extractions - I am pretty sure it was a reaction to the patch. I am not taking any pain meds. - so it couldn't be a reaction to that. So - please be careful if you try to use the patch as well - I would advise going with stage 2 - as it is a lower dosage of nicotine - I smoke extra-light and weigh about 104 - (was 112 before my dental work ) - and hoping to gain this back.

You have Thrush which is pretty much a yeast infection in your mouth and it is caused by antibiotics killing good bacteria. Eat yogurt and call the Dr.
