How do I know if Ive had a miscarriage?

Okay, I was really sick in the mornings, throwing up and feeling miserable...So I thought I was pregnant. But them I was a stupid girl and was too scared to get a pregnancy test. And so then I was getting these terrible excruciating pains in my stomache. And then after a while it just stopped. I dont remember the time line of this..In fact...I couldnt even tell you if it lasted for a month total, or a few months, but it felt like forever. I was also using "hardcore drugs" at the time. My friend says I couldve actually been pregnant, and had a miscarriage. But wouldnt I have to give birth to a dead baby or something like that? I bet I sound really stupid.
